Does anybody have acid reflux here and if so can you reccommend a medicine thats over the counter. I think I may have it but I want to try something from the pharmacy before I go to the doctor.
TIA

I have acid reflux- but nothing over the counter really helps me. I get a script for Aciphex from my dr. and it works wonders

I have it but if I really watch my diet it's fine. I can't have too many things with tomatoes in it too frequently, I don't drink orange juice or any acidic juice, and I drink lots of water. I've had a upper GI series about a year ago just to make sure there was no damage and there wasn't.

Apple Cider Vinegar ( google it ; can be found at health store or gnc) . and watch what you eat .

I use Prilosec. I used it before it was OTC, and now I just use the OTC version. I don't eat after 8, and I try to avoid onions, spicy stuff and greasy stuff. Thats what seems to set me off. HTH!

I LOVE aciphex! MIRACLE DRUG! I tired everything- prilosec, nexium, and aciphex works! I have to fight with my insurance company sometimes for it, but SO worth it. Completely blocks off acid production!

i have really bad acid reflex....nexium pills are the best. I have been taking them for years. The only thing is that you need a prescription.

I dont get heartburn. I actually didn't realize i had it until I was experiencing hoarseness and went to an ENT. He diagnosed be with acid reflux. Later on, it got worse (before the acifex) and I was having sever nausea and all...Acifex has worked wonders for me!

Definitely agree with ACV. It helps with so many things from reflux to sore throats!
That lump in the throat feeling *****! Be mindful of what you're eating that could aggravate reflux (acidic foods and drinks, caffeine, greasy foods, soda, smoking...). No medications worked for me so I had to make major lifestyle changes for it to be under control
Good luck.

Oh and you may find some relief if you prop yourself up a bit at night.

It sounds like it's probbaly acid reflux. FH has the same thing and I've had it a couple of times because of a gallbladder issue.
Try Prevacid or Prilosec OTC (they used to be Rx), follow the maintenance directions on the box, I think it tell syou to take it straight for a week or 2, and see if that helps. It's not the kind of thing you take sporadically to treat reflux, it's meant to maintian the production of stomach acid so you prevent it... FH felt much better when he finished a 2 week therapy and hasn't really had it come back since. Also, he's trying to stay away from caffeine, fried food and soda which he eats a lot of and it has made a world of difference.
Aciphex is very similar to the drugs available OTC now, so try those first Good luck and feel better.

Re: NWR: Acid reflux
I was on nexium and prevacid for a few years when I was younger but was worried about being on them from such a young age. I went for a test that saidI digest 90 mins after I ear hence the relfux..but anyway I take these natural Digestive Enzymes they're by Nature's Plus and I get them at The Vitamin Shoppe. They are amazing I cna't live without them. If I skip a day by mid day I feel it its gross I can't digest..but I just make sure I take them and they're amazing. Maybe try them. Good luck
