NWR and a little gross (warning)...

i was walking home from the car place (had to get something fixed before i sell my car) and i tripped on a bump in the sidewalk. i caught myself but my big toenail also caught on the bump and basically it is almost off.

i have heard instances where people lost their toenail. how long will it take to grow back and is going to look really, really gross while it grows back? right now i cant look at it b/c it is so bloody, so i will clean it later. but it hurts a lot

Actually I lost ny big toenail last year around this time... and it grew back pretty fast I thought... It is almost a year and almost fully grown in and it did grow in a little wavy... but almost there! Good Luck!

I hope your toe gets better soon!

You will probably lose your nail but make sure that you clean it thoroughly. You could get a terrible infection.

When I was in grade school, I slammed my finger in a door and my nail fell off - it grew back in about a month or two, but it does look a little different from the other nails.

Feel better!

ugh! Same thing happened to me but on my little toe... I kept a band-aid on it for as long as I could.. just make sure to put some bascetracin on it... It'll be grown back soon enough... I totally know how gross it is though! I couldnt look at mine either!!! One day you'll laugh about it!!!!

I'm sorry you got hurt. Keep cleaning it though-a small infection can quickly lead to a big one.

update. i was in so much pain and i couldnt walk, so i had the toenail removed. it hurt. a lot. i am going to the peoples house that had the large bump (it was 4 inches high) and telling them to take care of that. what sucked more is i wont have health insurance for two weeks (when i move australia gives me the insurance), but at least it wasnt that expensive. the doctors do cut you a break when you say you dont have health insurance.
