Re: nwr - anxiety - anyone?
I got it about a year and half ago out of nowhere and it hit me like a ton of bricks...
I take a very low dose of xanax .025 when I feel the panic attack or anxiety creeping up on me..
Unfortunately it really has changed my life and I am currently trying to find a way each and every day to push through it
wedding planning actually i think has helped, keeps my mind from thinking about horrific thoughts that are always in my mind (death tragedy, fear of health mostly)... i am here to talk if u need to

I was a psych major and then got my Masters in Social Work, so I know a lot about this stuff. There's this woman named Lucinda Basset who has a program specifically aimed at lowering anxiety and limiting panic attacks - she has audio cds and dvds, as well as little books to go along with each 'chapter.' I have heard her audios, and I think they were really amazing. It's a bit expensive, but could be worth a try.

Re: nwr - anxiety - anyone?
Hi Ladies,
I have suffered with anxiety since i was in college. I currently have been doing better but I am still on lexapro (a very low dosage) to help. Truthfully I am not sure if it even works after a certain amoutn of time and I hve been on it for 3 years. If I am really having a bad attack I will take half of a .25 xanax. I try to avoid it though. It definitely ahs changed my life but it is something that you can work through. I didnt want to take medication but it was the best decision I could have made. FM me if you want to talk..hang in there, you are not alone!

Re: nwr - anxiety - anyone?
I have pretty severe anxiety... It really hit me when my stepdad got sick...Him being so ill and being in the hospital a lot caused me to have a really extreme/unnatural fear of death...My doctor prescribed a few things and they did help but honestly I don't take them as often as I should..I will only take it if I am having a REALLY bad day and it will help calm me down..
I find that saying the serenity prayer also helps me when I am feeling really anxious.. I also have read a few Panic self help type books which to be honest haven't helped me like I hoped.. I just try to keep my mind focused on the wedding and I read a LOT to try to get my mind off of the things that cause me to panic...

Re: nwr - anxiety - anyone?
I'm not on any medication, but I get anxiety attacks if I'm super stressed. I manifest it physcially, which is bad because I tend to get really sick and run down if I panic too much.

Re: nwr - anxiety - anyone?
I have anxiety alot lately since I started teaching. I feel like I don't have enough time to do everything, I feel like I never had any down time to myself, I rarely sleep at night because I'm always thinking about what I have to do and I haven't been eating as much as I should. I'm getting worried that it's really going to start affecting my health. I am always tired, even after a full nights sleep I feel the same as I did when I went to sleep the night before. I am really trying to get through it without having to go to the doctor and get on some type of medication.
I feel that if I take a minute and take a few deep breaths and try to do wedding related things it works. I think the worst thing to do is to stay home and watch tv....that's when my mind wanders the most and I start to panic again.
If anyone has any advice of what to do to help, please FM me, I'm open to any suggestions.
