Re: NWR: ANy nurses out there?
my best friend is an RN. She went to Scranton. She is going to get her masters from Molloy.
She works at Schneiders Childrens hospital. She makes good $$ and works great hours.
But its a hard job, I wish I would have went to school for nursing but I dont think I could take the yucky parts (catheters, etc)

I am a Registered Nurse, and Certified Hemo Dialysis Tech, and I must say I work as an Administrative Assistant b/c emotionally I couldn't take it. The pay is excellent, as well as benefits, but after 3yrs I couldn't do it anymore I would get too attached to my patients

My friend is a RN in L&D she graduated form LIU good program but a lot of $$$$$..Hunter is a CUNY and they have an excellent nursing program.
As a nurse the starting pay is excellent and her schedule is awesome 3 days 12 hour shifts can't beat that.
Gee... I might have to get some more 411 from your friend.... as far her giving me a heads up to what I would be getting myself into.
I am thinking that L&D might be my best bet... since I am queasy at the stomach.

Re: NWR: ANy nurses out there?
I've been trying to get into the program at NCC. Very competitive I was turned down twice. Im now going to work on Molloy or Adelphi. Much easier to get into than a two year. There are no pre req's to get in just an overall 3.0GPA. If you have lower they will work with you until you pull it up and then put you in I was told. Molloy already okay'd me but Adelphi has a daycare which I need. Farmingdale never seems to have any seats according to girls I know that were transferring out of NCC because it was too competitve, most wound up in Molloy or Adelphi. Good Luck!!
I am a Radiation Therapist. I work Mon-Fri in shifts of 7-3, 8-4, 9-5. I get 4 weeks paid vacation, 4 personal days, 12 sick days. I carry the beeper once every 6 months- never get called in and make an extra 400$ take home in that paycheck. Look into it. Nassau Community College offeres the program. I think new grads are starting out between 60 and 65K. Full dental, medical, 403B. Just in case you didn't know- I work woth cancer patients. I forgot- paid holidays off.

Re: NWR: ANy nurses out there?
After completing online you come out with RN degree, my friend is using Excelsior for her Bachelors and masters degrees-she loves it. Med surge is just not my cup of tea. I don't know why-I just don't feel at home there. Like I said, I love OR and peds so I'm fine with either-I'll decide once I finish my degree. Any questions-just FM me.
