I was recently in the hospital for a few nights, and while most of the nurses were good, one really stood out from the rest. She was on the night shift and really helped me through a very, very rough night.
Would it be ok to send her a thank you card and a small gift certificate? I got her name (although the spelling may not be 100%)...should i send it to: Hopsital Name, Nursing Unit ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

first- hope you are feeling better
i'm not a nurse- but my mom and roommate are- and some hospitals dont allow them to accept gifts. I know especially with night nurses they really appreciate when you write letters to the head of the hospital- it goes in their files. Day staff is recognized so much more often since patient families are around hth

If their is anyway you could give it to her personally I would do that, I have personally had a Christmas card from a patient opened by other co-workers when the family sent it to MY NAME

I would also hand deliver it.
I think it is really nice to recognize her, it will make her day!

Thank you ladies...I'll look into how to best recognize her...she really was angel-sent and I want the higher-ups to know that.

Re: NWR: Any nurses out there?
DH is a nurse (my own Gaylord Focker) and I'm not sure about the gift giving policy, but he's gotten handwritten cards from his patient's parents before (he works with kids).
It might be hard to reach her via mail. But if you go to the hospital, you might be able to leave it with the unit clerk/secretary if that nurse isn't there. They normally know all the nurses by name anyway.

I'am not a nurse but i do work in the medical field! If she really stood out and took good care of you then yes you should send a card or something. It will be greatly appreciated and probably mean a lot to her not to mention remind her on why she became a nurse in the first place.......

Re: NWR: Any nurses out there?
thats very nice of you. In my hospital, we are not allowed to accept any monetary gifts. But...if u place it in a personal card then who would know? . Also, you can write a letter to the nurse manager about her and if you get a survey in the mail regarding ur hospital stay, def mention her /your stay.
I'm glad you had a good experience and are feeling better!
