NWR: Any Physician Assistant Brides?

Hi ladies,

So I was wondering whether there were any PA's on LIW? I'm interested in applying to some NY schools and would love any and all advice that you could share with me.

I would love to know abpout you experience applying to PA school and any advice that you can share. Also how do you like working as a PA?

I can't wait to start school. I'm looking at starting in either Fall 2011 or January 2012.

Thanks in advance!!

Re: NWR: Any Physician Assistant Brides?

applying to PA school is very different now a days

when i applied...i entered a bachelors program and was accepted into PA program as a freshman

I didnt have to transfer into the PA program

now it seems all the programs require a bachelors and then you enter a masters program for the PA portion

this is what you are doing correct?

what schools are you applying for?

my biggest suggestion is to try to go to a state school...bc when those loans pile up it sucks!

I really like being a PA. It's a great profession, lots of money and a pretty prestigious position to be in considering we dont have MD or DO after our names but do almost everything they do...but I will not sugar coat it like some do

It's very difficult at times, you are constantly trying to prove yourself and gain respect from Doctors and Nurses and patients

of course this all depends on where you work and what field you go into

tell me why YOU want to be a PA? and not a doctor??

Im a pre-PA student too. What schools were you looking at? Do you have your bachelors? I don't- so I can only apply to about 5 different schools.

PA here!!! I loooooooove my career! Wouldn't change it for the world. I've been a PA for nearly 3 yrs, always did OB/GYN because that is my passion. Right now I work in fertility for Columbia University.

I do agree with the above that sometimes u have to prove who u are to physicians and nurses, and patients too. I found that most when I was working in a hospital setting. Many people still don't understand what a PA is but u learn how to deal with those individuals.

Good luck! And feel free to ask me questions!

I work for columbia tooooooo!! However I'm not in the hospital, I'm at CWRC, columbia's fertility practice. I'm their first PA ever! Lol. Were located at 57th and b-way, which is much more convenient for me than 168th st b/c I live in huntington. How do u like working for columbia? How long have u been here?
