NWR: Any teacher pass the ATP-S Video even though things didn't go right???

I just taped the video yesterday and after watching I saw things I didn't see during the lesson.

One kid was dancing in his chair and some got out of their seats.

Other things I saw and corrected: One kid was bouncing a ball

Other kids calling out.

Some complaining that the marker I was writing with was to light,

I prepped these kids for a week and 20 minutes right before.

I have no choice but to send this in because I waited until the deadline to submit it.

I know I am going to fail!

These kids just cost me $145.00

Hmmmm....

Was the objective of the lesson accomplished?

Did you follow the format?

Have closure?

If so, they might look over the nonsense.

P.s. My marker was light also, and I passed!

I have heard these stories too. A teacher told me she even stopped the tape in the middle and still passed.

Then there is always that rumor about the wedding video being sent it.

Then a teacher told she failed 3 times. Who knows.... I am hoping because they are flooded with videos now that they pass mine right by....lol

Are you going to overnight yours? I am going to have to. I thought it had to be postmaked by the 15th. It has to arrive there by Friday.

This stinks!

I had a nightmare of a time with my video- it was SENT back to me because it was crushed in the mail! Thank God I was able to resubmit it for the same date. ( I was so glad I had a backup copy!)

What did you do your lesson on?? I need to do a quick, easy lesson for 2nd grade to have it incase I fail.

i'm glad to see i'm not the only teacher who waited to the absolute last minute to send hers in..

i viewed mine and noticed one kid had his back to me for just about the entire whole group portion.. UGGHHH..

after we went to small group he got very involved. i wrote on the paper that several students have IEP's and receive special services (not a whole truth but not a total lie either) and should have had one to one para's with them to keep them on task during lessons.

if you don't have time to do it over, maybe you can try to explain away some of the nonsense.. write the kids adhd and their para's were absent that day..

I wish I could help- but I teach high school English and know nothing about 2nd grade!

Do make sure though that the tape has no skips on it, my friend's mother failed b/c someone hit into the tripod and the tape skipped, they thought it was an edit!

My lesson was definitely not perfect. Kids are kids and I don't think that their actions will take away from your lesson. I couldn't even watch mine. Good luck and don't be nervous. They make you wait a long time for a response so try to relax and think about something positive like the end of the school year!

Thanks so much for the kind words!

I think this is urban legend...

My colleague had no sound on her tape, but thought she could just send it in anyway and she failed...However, i had another colleague who had a stop in the middle of the tape and he passed...I suppose it might be a case by case basis...

I am not sure about the behavioral issues though...I don't know if they fail teachers because of that...

I know a teacher whose tape stopped in the middle (because the battery died) and she failed because of it.
I heard somewhere that they only actually check about 10% of the tapes. Not sure if that's true though.

My friend cut the video off about 15 minutes too early and she still passed

Why are you doing a video? The state stopped that requirement prior to my completion of the program..I was estatic about this. I graduate Undergrad in 2005 and it wasn't a requirement then...????

Re: NWR: Any teacher pass the ATP-S Video even though things didn't go right???

they changed the requirements but those of us who were provisional prior to the change are grandfathered in. we get permanent lifetime certification.. whereas under the new requirements there is professional certification which ahs to be renewed every 5 years by taking courses..

if u get permanent u don't have to take new classes every 5 years.. u're certificate is good for the rest of your life..they are phasing it out though so the last submission deadline is june 15th.. thus.. passing this video is HUGE!

i, too, just finished my video and sent it in today. i sent it 'media mail' with a delivery confirmation. it's supposed to get there by tuesday/wednesday at the latest (only 3 days).

i couldn't believe how well-behaved my kids were! they were like angels ... all of them raised their hands to answer questions, not just call out like they normally do. i thought my lesson went pretty well, until i realized today that i spelled 'caterpillar' wrong on the board . i spelled it catepillar! hopefully they'll look past that if they view my video. just like i tell my kids, even teachers make mistakes!
