NWR: Anyone ever have that candle burning thing for sinuses?

I've been having a lot of problems with my sinuses lately and someone recommended getting that thing where they burn a candle near your ear or something and it's supposed to drain your sinuses.

Anyone ever do this? Did it work? Can you recommend someone to do this?

ETA: Here's an article if anyone hasn't heard of it.......Ear Candling

There was something on Oprah a couple of months ago about ppl that have sinus infections use this flush for their nose...looks like a gravy boat and you flush water in through one nose and out the other. They said a little nasty to do but totally works....let me see if I can find something about it.

Here it is:

It's an old wives tale. Read this:

Why ear candling is not a good idea

I love Quackwatch.

What you can do is that sinus washing thing. Supposedly that works, but I can't do it, I choke and cough. I have terrible problems with my sinuses and allergies, I take Allegra in the day and Benadryl at night (to keep me from falling asleep during the day.)

And, you know, it's always possible it's not your sinuses. I thought I had terrible sinus headaches for years, until my ENT diagnosed them as migraines. Seriously. Happens to a lot of people. You might want to ask your doctor about it. I suffered for years, and now I take an Imitrex and it goes away (usually.) Changed my life, not exaggerating.
