Re: NWR: Anyone gone to Disney Worl or Universal recently?

I went at Christmas last year after not being there for 10 years also. I only went to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom and the Studios..Didn't get to Universal this trip. I loved it.. I loved the French Restaurant in Epcot.. It was lovely and the food was delicious.. I stayed on property at Port Orleans Riverside.. Their restuant Boatwright was delicious...It was very nice hotel and I felt like I was in Gone with the Wind. I loved the attaction at Animal Kingdom called 'It's a Bugs life' in the tree of life..It was very cool....I also loved the Nemo ride in Epcot.. I LOVED the shows.. Lion King (AK) and Nemo (AK). I wasn't overly impressed with AK, but did love the shows and the safari...
See the light show at EPCOT at night...so beautiful as well as the fireworks in Magic Kingdom. Have a magical time!

I am a self proclaimed expert but I need some more info to answer you.
How long are you staying?
Where are you staying?
What kind of rides do you like?
What is your favorite food?
How long do you plan on spending in each park?

I was there last weekend for work but only for a day. We stayed at the Disney Boardwalk Inn, it was very nice and was close to bars (we went to Jelly Rolls Piano Bar) that actually stayed open late.

Re: NWR: Anyone gone to Disney World or Universal recently?

we just went to disney for the first part of our hm!

1. go to animal kingdom for a few hours 1 day - you really only need half a day, if that! the only things worth doing are the kilamanjaro safari and expedition everest (don't be afraid of this even if you're a roller coaster weenie like me. i seriously almost cried and shitt myself waiting in line but it was actually really fun!). if the line for kali river rapids is short then do it, if not don't bother - it's only like a 2 minute ride. if you go toward the end of the night/park closing there's a street fair in africa that has wine tasting which is pretty cool too!

2. the day you go to animal kingdom for half the day, go to hollywood studios the other half. there's only two rides there worth riding - tower of terror and rock n roller coaster. get a fast pass for one and wait in line at the other. toluca turkey legs is right next to them so you can always get one of those while you're waiting! if you need something to do while waiting for the fast pass, sci fine diner is fun - you sit in booths that are cars and watch movies while you eat. the italian place is also really yummy.

3. spend a whole day at magic kingdom! it's the most crowded but there's a lot to do there so you'll need a lot of time. check out the lines/get fast passes for the mountains - space mountain (always the most crowded), big thunder mountain, and splash mountain. the haunted castle is really cheesy but it's cute and AIR CONDITIONED! the fish and chips place across from the haunted mansion is realllly yummy if you're looking for a quick place to eat! we also did the carousel of progress which was really interesting (next to space mountain), and the tommorw land train thing. the train was really cool bc it takes you through a bunch of rides. it's slow but really relaxing! and course do pirates of the caribbean!

4. i love epcot. the food is amazing and the countries are awesome! get a fast pass for soarin and wait in line for test track. soarin is not as exciting as it's hyped up to be and it's a really short ride so it's not worth the long lines. test track is a pretty long ride and it's really fun so even if you have to wait a long time it's worth it! i went on mission space when it first came out and was sick for 3 days after so i vowed to never go on it again and haven't so i can't give you an up to date review on that one! eat in mexico, japan or france! le cellier (the steakhouse in canada) is the hardest to go into but i wasn't impressed. both dh and i said if we actually had to pay for the meal we got (we had a dining plan) we would have been so angry!!! and obviously you have to drink around the world... margaritas in mexico, plum wine in china, wine in norway, germany, italy, and france, frozen drinks in france and morocco, sake in japan, and something from the rose and crown pub in england!

5. if you want something to do at night, sadly pleasure island no longer exists. go to jelly rolls (dueling piano bar) or the dance club on the boardwalk!

ETA: THE FIREWORKS AT EPCOT ARE AMAZING! GO TO THEM!

Re: NWR: Anyone gone to Disney World or Universal recently?

We went about three weeks ago for a long weekend. We went to Islands of Adventure, which imo has the best rides and the new harry potter world. HP was amazing and I'm not even a fan of the books. We stayed at the Hard Rock, so we showed our room key and cut all the lines, paying a higher hotel rate was worth it to cut the lines. We went to Universal after Islands of Adventure, personally I think the rides there are kind of old and lame. We never really ate anywhere good b/c we were just always on the run so I don't really have any suggestions about dining. One day we went to Animal Kingdom, I loved it but I just love going to zoo's in general. But like Britdave said you can definitely do just 1/2 here. The other day we went to Magic Kingdom, I have to say I was kind of disappointed. Maybe its b/c I'm an adult now and nothing seems that cool. Most of the rides are old and everything needs a facelift. However, we still had a fabulous time and went on every single ride. And we stayed for the fireworks which were amazing.
