NWR: Anyone had to take a drug test for a job? Not sure what to expect...

I have to go for a drug screening next week for a new job, and I have no idea what to expect. I have a horrific vision in my head that I'll have to pee into a cup while someone is standing there watching, haaa! Is this true?! I know it's not a big deal, but any info. would be appreciated. Thanks!

No, they are not waching... but there is a cup and a bunch of questions.

But you have to show your ID, etc..

yup-- a cup and they ask you to empty your pockets and leave your bag in the examining room. But they dont watch you pee

I went for a drug test last week. There are just certain rules like don't flush or wash your hands until after you give the nurse your cup. Also you can't bring your purse into the room with you. it's really quick.

I dont remember not being able to wash my hands - but when I had to take it for my job - it was at the NYSE - and there was TOP security - but noone watched me when i went to the bathroom lol

I guess it depends on the job. 2x I needed to give a drug test and they watched. They where in the stall with me. Its funny how your bladder becomes shy all of the sudden!

I give DT to temps everyday. Actually we don't use urine samples any more it's an oral swab almost as they do testing for DNA. I've never had the pleasure of having one done to myself but my temps all tell me it taste like salt.

But if you have to take a urine test, they'll sendyou in the bathroom ALONE ofcourse w/ nothing in hand not even a pocketbook. Your not even aloud to run the water until after (if you run the water they'l disregard your test). When you give the sample back you'll be able to wash your hands.

In no way would I have taken the test. Thats just a little too much for me. Why not just put a camera in the stall

when I took one last summer and it was weird. The bathroom had no water, you couldn't flush the toilet and everything was covered in plastic and I couldn't wash my hands till I got out of the bathroom. It was so strange.

They went in the stall with you and watch you pee? No way - that's illegal.

I guess it depends what kind of job you are going for....I do not think it is illegal...If they can do it in court, it cannot be illegal, you know?

I work for NS-LIJ, and we hadt to do a drug test - you pee alone, but there may be a temperature strip on the cup, which turns a certain color for fresh warm pee - in case you brought clean pee with you to put in the cup....
