NWR- Anyone in their 20's feel pressure to have a baby by 30?
I dont know why, but I feel like I need to have my first baby by the time I'm 30! Am I crazy?

not at all crazy... we are 25/24...we be married at 26/25...we are shooting by 28/27. Hope to have 2 by 30
i don't want to be old when they are still young had it been ideal, i would try now, but we are not good with $$$ ( espically in NY) and we need a house
Moving to FL would solve both those problems

i am not pressured, I will only be 25...but i want 2 by the time I am 30 ...FI will be 30 when we are married...

Wow i am 30 and i still don't feel the pressure... And presonally i think it is sad that girls in their 20's feel any pressure what so every. I mean really i am 30 and i am freaking out. I keep thiking... Am i ready? Can i afford it? CAN I AFFORD TO RAISE A CHILD THE WAY I WANT TO?????? Ect. How can you feel pressure when you have soooo many things to do???Personally i feel it is my obligation to a child to be READY to take care of it!!

I'm 26 and in no rush. Actually, I don't want one before 30. I feel like I want to wait... enjoy my FH... travel... enjoy my job.

I want one by the time I'm 30, and I'm feeling like if I wait to get married at 28, we'll only have a year together as a married couple before we start trying.... ughhhhhh, I guess I should also mention, that I lost both my parents this past year and a half... and my grandparents are in their mid 80's,,, I guess I just want them to be around to meet their great grandchildren....... ughhhhhh,...stress!

First off - you are crazy. I used to feel that way. I have changed the way i think. I've been going to school for so many years - and i want to be able to into the work force and work a few years before i do have kids. I also just want some time to 'live' with FH. We dont live together now so married life will be a big change for us. i think it depends on each person - if i knew i was going to continue working after i had kids maybe i would have them sooner before I turned 30, but i defitniely want to stay home when i have kids -
I nonetheless feel SO much pressure from EVERYONE when i tell them i want to wait 5-6 years before i have kids. And this pressure isnt only from parents and people of my parents age - its from peopel my age - whcih is a bigger shocker!!
Bottom line - do what you and FH please! And be confident that it is the right decision for the two of you.

Oct2004bride... everyone keeps telling me about these reports that say that a woman's fertility decreases majorly after 30... I guess I should probably research this before I freak out... and also, it has to do with those other reasons that I said... I'm sorry if I was inconsiderate at all!!

Nah ...don't worry.. I understand on some level..I just think it is more important to be mentally and financially ready to take care of a child.. THAT is the pressure i feel...regardless of age.

Never feel pressured to have a child. We have a 3 year old who we love and cant wait to have another. Children are a huge responsibility and I had to think alot about having one at 25 when I started having problems with my cervix. I decided that the experience of having a child was so important to me that I knew we were not in the best financial position nor the worst but together we could do it.
So lesson is.....do what is right for you.

God Bless you, you are a strong woman. I sure do hope my cervix holds out a bit longer, because I'm not ready. I want to live a little before I start, because then, it's no longer about 'me'... I will come last for the following 18+ years...

You are correct it sure is not about you anymore lol I was in the military and got to travel the world so I had my opportunity to 'live' alot more than most so definitely enjoy life with only you and FH.......but remember that when you are 'ready' its also rewarding to share that life with another :) So its really a trade for a different life not an end
