NWR: Anyone know of couples who have broken off their engagements? How was the bride?

I am concerned that I might end up being one of those horror stories of broken engagements. Please tell me that something has worked out for someone whose engagement has been broken off. I need some hope.

MY FRIEND WAS ENGAGED, BROKEN OFF, THEN RE-ENGAGED TO THE SAME GUY WHO IS NOW HER HUSBAND OF 4 YEARS

Think positive and talk to your fiance. you can also consider counselling to work out issues
I knew one couple that called off their wedding twice. eventually they seperated and both have moved on.
It is not the end of the world to call off a wedding it is better than a divorce. Be true to your feelings and trust your instincts. If you are having a bad feeling, trust it.

My only piece of advice is not to marry someone because you are afraid you won't find someone else......eventually that will fall apart, and then there may be kids involved, and that's not fair to them.
Really talk with FI and see if the problems you are having are able to be worked out or if it's even worth it. Ask yourself if this is a problem you can live with, or will you keep encountering it for the rest of your life?

I actually broke off my 1st engagement back in august of 2001... It was hard at first, but family and friends were their for all the support and now i am marrying one of those friends! It will work out in the end....
Wow, talk about coincidence. My ex broke off my first engagement in April 02. I am now engaged to a long-term friend.

There are several women on here who have broken engagements. I know one is back on planning a wedding with someone else now, and another met her current boyfriend online and seems like she couldn't be happier. Not going through with it doesn't mean giving up your only chance at happiness--if it doesn't feel right, it might not be.

My brother and SIL were dating for a few years and then suddenly called it off. (For reasons that take too long here) After about 5 months they were back together and have since married. They now have 2 wonderful kids!
I also dated a guy for 4 1/2 years and everyone said we'd marry. Luckily I broke it off with him. We both grew up and now he's married with a child and I'm about to be married!

My FH and I took a break about 3 months after we got engaged. The break didn't last long, but it was a very tough time for me. Hang in there.
