NWR: apartment utilities

we are looking at one bedroom apartments. Most of them do not include utilities, so i was wondering if anyone could give me a general idea of what utilities would cost us per month. Im completely clueless! TIA.

We have a 2 bedroom apt. Water and heat are included for us but we have to pay for gas, electric, and home phone.

Electric (Con Ed - in the non-air conditioner months) is usually around $75-$85 per month. During the summer though that could shoot up to $150 easily with the 2 air conditioners going.

Gas (National Grid) is usually no more than $20 per month.

Our home phone is around $60 per month (Verizon).

Re: NWR: apartment utilities

we have a one bedroom apartment in queens:

our cable/phone/internet bill from time warner cable is $168 (for the bare minimum - we used to have the $99 triple play but that offer is only good for 1 year)

Our ConEd electric bill is $70 in the winter and as high as $140 in the summer (but FH leaves his computer on all day everyday and also loves to leave lights on in the apartment)

our water and heat is included

We have a 3 bedroom, and only water is included. Heat and stove are electric, so we have no gas bill.
Our electric in the winter months is about $300, summer months should be less (we just moved in March)
Verizon Fios triple play is $90 a month

I have a 1 br and we pay gas, electric and cable

Our cable is 60 mo
Gas is very cheep about 20 Mo
and electric depends on the time of the year... in the winter it is about 50 mo nut it goes up a lot in the summer time to about 120 BC we have central air that is really old and eats up electric.

Re: NWR: apartment utilities

I just moved out of a 2 BR cottage and we were paying:

$250 a month for oil
$80 (sometimes less) a month for electric
$130 a month for cable/phone/internet

An apartment having gas or electric def makes a difference (in regards to the kitchen appliances) too!

This for a one bedroom. Have not lived in my apartment during the summer yet so I don't know how much it will shoot up with an AC.

We have a 2br in Long Island. If you can heat included thats your best bet. Also, do NOT do oil, so pricey.

I have our LIPA electric on balanced billing so t's $90/mth and can go lower if we use a lot less over the year. I hated a $10 and then getting a $110 or more bill. So balanced was easier.

We have a crazy cable/internet package through Verizon FiOS. FH loves tv. We have the fastest internet and every channel possible and pay around $160 bc we also have to pay for DVR, which now comes free...

Hope this helps!

Oh, bc we have oil our stove is electric... I don't love it. LOL... We are also on a mth to mth lease bc we weren't sure if we could do the expense of the oil in the winter. It was very expensive.

oil $400 (5 months in summer, every 6 -8 weeks in winter)

Granted, I am in DC and we had a 2 bedroom

But, our heat was electric, and our bills could be $35 for the normal months of $180 for winter/summer

Then cable/internet

In NY, we pay electric (heat is gas)...so I can let you know. We have a 1 bedroom.

Cable/internet with RCN is like $80 per month
