NWR: Apartments

FH and I are looking for our first apartment. Did any of you use a broker? Do you recommend it or is Craigslist good enough?

TIA!

i voted for Craigs List; however, I'm using a broker to find my next apartment. I found a GREAT apartment on Craigs List for a steal when I lived in NY, but when we moved to Philly we used CL and found that a lot of places we were looking at were dumps. I feel more comfortable going through a broker in a city I don't know.

If you are looking to rent, craigslit, if you are looking to buy, go with a broker, so much can go wrong and you'll have so many questions.

Brokers are like wedding vendors... some are really aweful money squeezing donkeys... others are genuinly interested in helping you.

I would say talk to a few brokers from different brokerages, and go with your gut as to who sounds like they will be geniune with you.

If you buying you'll need a lawyer and a mortgage broker, a good realestate broker will help set you up, so that its pain free.

My mom and dad are both brokers but only part time. They only work in their area and love the area and the people around them, so they are genuinly happy to help. They are older and feel good to help people in your comminuty, find a broker like that!

ive liked in a NUMBER of apts and honestly, the best ones were found by a broker. you have to go to a reputable company though.

The thing about craigslist is that you can find an apt and think its no broker fee, then you call and its a broker! Thats how I found my apt, and I took it because I was already in love with it, so I had to fork over the fee.

If you are looking to buy, try MLSLI.com.

Thanks girls!!

We are looking to just rent for now, but I look at some of the prices and everything is just so overpriced.

Perhaps we will use a broker and see if we can get better quality. If anyone knows a good broker, please feel free to FM me. TIA!
