I thought it would be cute for me n FH to go apple picking since neither one of us have ever done it. I think I bribed him because I promised to make a pie or apple crisp with whatever we get We are in Nassau county. Can anyone recommend somewhere to go? When's the best time to go? How exactly does this work? Thanks!

Apple picking is so much fun! I am terrible at remembering the orchid's names, but if you go on the LI Website you can find the one's out east. I know there is one in Watermill.
FH and I go to one up in Westchester.
You go, buy a bag or barrel depending on how many you want and go out to the orchids and pick! We end up eating so many while we are out there!

go to maskers, all you can eat apples while you are in the orchard! its really beautiful up there. it costs $18 per bag but i noticed that people hoard many bags in the cars so i guess it ends up being a good deal, lol. (meaning, they probably only pay for one bag)

We go to Maskers too!
They are great and plenty of apples. I do also notice people hoarding apples. Ummm....what do you do with THAT many apples????

hahahaha. we did that the first year we went. after we got home I was so sick of apple's, i made apple crips, apple pie, applesauce... apples for lunch, apples with breakfast -- i was like, wow. next year, ONE bag!

Where is Maskers? I live in Westchester....or what everyone from long island calls 'upstate'. I have never heard of it? FH and I were going to go this past weekend but we never got a chance.
Barton Orchards in Putnam County is great....has a huge corn maze as well.....and peaches, pumpkins and other activities to do......better if you bring little ones along though.

We were thinking about going on Sunday and according to the website Wickams isn't open I have to look up Lewins tonight when I get home otherwise we're thinking about heading up to Maskers.
Anyone interested in a ride? The more the merrier!
