NWR: Application for Apt Help!

NWR: Application for Apt Help!

I just wanted to ask all of you for your opinions. My husband and I are applying for an apartment to rent. They are doing a standard credit check, etc.. Would it effect us if I have some credit card debt? I only have one credit card which I have had for about four or five years. I am never late on a payment, and always pay more than the balance required. However, I am close to having the max amount of balance for that credit card. Does that make sense? Just wondering if this will effect our chances of getting picked.
He has fine credit, and income is also not a problem. Would it be best to have someone else co-sign with him? Since we are not buying the apt, I don't mind if someone else such as a parent were to be the second person applying with him. Or do you think this will be an issue? Any advice would be great.

I don't think you will have a problem. As long as your credit score is good then I wouldn't worry.

Silly question how do you find out your credit score?

Re: NWR: Application for Apt Help!

You are entitled to one free credit report per year.

Go to this website

https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

Fill in the information needed and you will get your credit report and score. There are 3 credit agencies that report your score. I don't think it matters which one you pick. When I did mine, I picked Experian.

HTH!

totally not a problem as long as you have a good credit score. from what you describe, it sounds like you have good credit. you can be $30k in cc debt, and still have good credit. it is all in how you pay your bills, not how much debt you have.

Thanks again. I went on and everything is in good standing. Never Late. I feel better now. I also luck out I have a credit card on my parents account still for emergencies ( I know my dad is nuts, he thinks my car will blow up, or I will be stranded with no money somewhere). However, it has been Open since 1989 lol I was born in 1984. So since I was 5 I have been making payments on time. Thanks so much.

I'm not a professional but I know that if you have credit card debt, it will affect your credit score which could affect the outcome of the apartment's decision but I think it's usually based on a lot of things (credit, income, etc.)

Good luck!
