NWR- apt hunting

Hi Ladies,

so i need to vent. I took today off to apt hunt and its NOT going well!!!! a lot of 1 bedroom places dont want to rent to couples!!!! what is that?!? i'm so frustrated!

Maybe cause they are only looking for one person, 2 people more in water and all. Utilities included? Some people are cheap

we are looking in the massapequa area but if we found something we would reconsider.........

one realtor said b/c of parking thats why they only want one person....

ITS SO ANNOYING!!!

Alot of landlords don't want couples because what happens if the couple breaks up? The person that's left usually can't afford it on their own and then they're left having to find another tenant. It happens alot so they don't want to take a chance. If they rent to one person, that one person can obviously (or proves) they can carry the rent themselves, then there's not as much for the landlord to worry about. It ***** I know.

perhaps you can talk to the landlords about signing a promissory note stating that if one person should have to leave the apartment that the rent would still get paid. that way she has something in writing ... usually it makes them feel more secure.
