NWR: Are any of the teachers...

STRESSING OUT!

I hate September, it is 4am and I am up writing lists of all the things I have to do before the kids start next week!

You think after 4 years I would get over this September nightmare!

I know for the next 2 weeks I will not sleep through 1 night without having
A: a back to school nightmare, B: waking up and making lists (like now),
or C: not fall asleep at all.

All this and plan a wedding Ahhhh hahaha

Yeah right!

lol - I'm not teaching yet but today is my first day of practicum in 5th grade - def got no sleep! The big kids scare me a bit (i just graduated w/ early childhood and am getting my masters in upper elementary - I'm still used to the little ones!)

Good luck with your planning for both school and the wedding!

I can totally relate! I have been procrastinating on reading my summer reading books for my AP English class over again, and now I have to do 2000 pages by the end of next week. I am worse than the kids!

Good luck with everything! Just try to enjoy the rest of your 'time off.'

I know what you mean...try to enjoy the last few days off!!
I've been into my room so much and finally today I'm like..there's nothing more I can do right now. I need a break. Of course, I am famous for the lists as well and start writing them on mail envelopes, napkins, whenever the need arises (COMPULSIVE!!!)
As for the dreams..I get them during the year as well. (Like the one where I forget to confirm the bus for a big field trip )

Chrissa,
It's as if you spoke my mind!!!!!!
I didn't go to bed until way after 3:30. I watched TV, read, also wrote lists! This will be my 5th year teaching, but it's my tenure year in this school.
WHenever I start thinking about school, I say think about something else. My mind goes to the wedding, but sometimes that stresses me out too only because I can't 'picture' it all yet.

Thank you for writing that, because I thought there was something wrong with me. I keep thinking 'Please just let me go to sleep. That's all I want.'
Now, it's 9:00 am and I am on my way to the classroom on this beautiful sunny day.

Boo..............

Chrissa, I just looked and we're getting married the same day too!!!!!! It will be an interesting year, huh?

Where do you teach?

Chrissa,
I teach in Hauppauge, so it's not too far from you. I have only taught 3rd, but this year I am looping with my class to 4th grade. Switching grades during my tenure year. No stress there!
Also, from now until our wedding, I guess I have to figure out where we're going to live too.
I am right now trying to make a banner that's not cooperating. Do these kids have any idea the effort we put in?

If you ever want to vent, write to me. Seems we're in the same boat.

There are quite a few vacancies in my district. I work for NYCDOE. I would call Region 4(located in Whitestone) and see!
Good Luck!

That's it, the summer is over.....I was in my classroom all day yesterday and today. (And it was HOT!) It's my 6th year of spec.ed and it doesn't seem to be getting any easier. Or maybe the kids have even more problems now than before?

Re: NWR: Are any of the teachers...

Oh, welcome to 4th grade! I teach self-contained 4th. So, it's not enough that my kids can't read but they expect them to pass the ELA. Thank god I'm finished with grad school and everything else. I did nothing this summer but plan my wedding!
