There was a shooting on the Broadway station, N train, that killed someone this morn, how horrible!!!!!!!!!!!! Is Astoria that safe??

I heard about this too! Very scary, astoria isn't too far from me. I feel like I've heard a lot of bad things happening around there recently![]()
Astoria is the safest place Ive ever lived. I take the N train at all times of the night and nothing bad has ever happened to me (knock on wood). Random acts of violence happen in even the best neighborhoods. Astoria is a great place to live.

Yeah its so crazy, whats going on lately...I still consider it very safe. Its rare when ithappens and the fact that everyone is shocked when it does proves that point.

Ditto. Astoria is truly honestly one of the safest neighborhoods in all of NYC. Just like said above, random acts of violence occur everywhere, in the ritziest, quietest neighborhoods of Long Island and the most residential, family-oriented small town places upstate. Unfortunately there are bad people everywhere. If you add up everything that's happened in Astoria this summer it wouldn't come close to everything that's happened in other singled out parts of the city and suburbs. There are always bad apples and people get too drunk or whatever and are out too late and unfortunately people get hurt or worse sometimes. As cavalier as it sounds, this is life these days.
There is nothing to be scared of living in Astoria. I love it here and continue to feel safer here walking down the streets at night than I would anywhere else in the city. I would recommend anyone to move here, it's great.![]()

No argument here, just making an observation that there were a lot of incidents there this past summer. Of course it's still a great neigbhorhood, FH and I go there to eat all the time

I loooove my Astoria! Even though Im technically East ElmhurstAfter the wedding were going to probably buy property in Astoria closer to the Ditmars line. I hate living all the way up here. Its even super safe around me and I can walk to Rikers Island!

yes i totally agree
when bad stuff happens it is natural to feel uneasy in that area for a little while
but there is NO area where NOTHING happens. . . i mean, I live in Howard Beach and I consider it one of the safest neighborhoods. . . but once in a while scary stuff happens.
no neighborhood is in a bubble - anyone can get in . . .so anything can happen anywhere!
