Does anyone know of any positions available? My sisters husband got laid off (&they just got married & are about to close on a co-op..I'm so sad for them)
He teaches Math.

i don't know any off hand...but i can assure you with math he will find something..there is always a need for math and science..tell him to look under boces website..many school districts post opportunities...

he should try www.olasjobs.org its the BOCES website and is like a clearing house for alot of the long island school districts to post their opening and use a common online application.

Also tell him to check out the website of any district that he might be interested because some districts don't post on BOCES

olasjobs.org
Both Nassau and Suffolk BOCES sites (because not all sites post on the olasjobs.org site)
nytimes.com (he can search under education, online the ads stay up a lot longer so if you missed a few sunday editions of the times you can catch up)
the City always needs teachers particualrly Math
I woudl also suggest callign up schools... and this point in the summer, 90% of the staff has already been hired. the only hires at this minute are last minutes additions (enrollment increased so that had to open up more classes, mast minutes retirees/maternity leaves, etc.)

would he work in the city? my FH is a teacher in Queens and loves it. He would rather work on LI - but jobs are hard to come by. eta: I think the city is also giving math and science teachers housing subsidies bc they cant find any teachers.
