NWR: baby moods

Original post by EmberLynn

Do you ever get this weird feeling, like you can't wait to have a kid, then later that day you feel the complete oppsite. You go from thinking 'awww.... I can't wait to be a mommy, too ugh why have kids, they only add more stress to your life.' Since I've been engaged its either hit or miss with me. Trust me I'm not having any rugrats any time soon. But I was wondering if anyone else gets this way at all?

Well - if I waited to own a house before having kids, I would never have them!!!

Having 2 future stepkids puts things in perspective in terms of the reality of what having kids is about, and I still want a baby - I know I'm ready - so we'll see what happens...

WWOOO... I wasn't trying to put anyone down. By no means! I deeply respect mothers of all ages. I've seen better teenager mother than I some 30 yr old moms. I'm not saying that anyone here was a teenage mom or that theres any wrong with it. (feel so politically correct) I'm not trying disrespect anyones life style.
I also have the hope of having a house soon. In the next couple of yrs. So I guess I should have clairfie that before. Sorry if I made anyone upset.

Wait - I don't get it - did i seem upset in my post? (I've been dying to use this new icon!!) Or is this post about someone else? I'm 32 - and so far no one has told me I'm getting old (but I also look and act like a kid - so they may forget how old I am!)

i was just saying that even living with the reality f what having kids are like, I am still ready to have my own!

EYA: Also, we have realized that realistically we can't wait to afford a house - he's 42, I'm 32 - his ex hopefully will sell their house in a few years, so maybe one day we can think of affording a house, but it has been so hard lately...

Bottom line:

When you are ready you will know. If you are not sure, then you are NOT ready. Sometimes life throws you curves and surprises and you deal with them. But all too often, people get that little 'baby itch' and they have kids way before they are really equipped emotionally or financially. That is a recipe for disaster.

Sorry, but I am already a mom and couldn't help but look at a post that has the word 'baby' in it, lol! I have to disagree with this post. I was neither emotionally or financially ready for my children, however my life has been anything BUT a disaster!

Forgive me. 'Disaster' was way too harsh of a word and was certainly not meant to imply anything hurtful. Children are blessings - each and every one of them. I should have spoke specifically of my experiences. Each and every day I work with and see children from parents who, to this day, are still not able to care for their children properly due to MANY factors. Some of these factors include: lack of finance, lack of emotional attachment, lack of mental stability and MANY other things. They are not able to prioritize which is more important, a pack of cigarettes or using the laundromat so their kids can have clean clothes. We do our best to help those parents. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesnt. We are fortunate that we have that ability to prioritize for our children, step-children and future children. Again, I meant no offense and I apologize.

I understand what you mean. I was a welfare mom for many years and saw the parents you are speaking of. Fortunately for me, my kids were and still are my first priority!

Re: NWR: baby moods

I flip flop all the time. I know that given my age, and my discussions with my GYN I have to have a child in 2007 or give up the thought. Buuuuttttt . . . FH & I will be living with his mom for at least the first year of our marriage. I just don't know how we could all manage in such a small space. Added to that is the fact that children are an expense which will probably mean living with his mom for two years, not one if we add a child to the mix.
