NWR: Baby Shower

So, tell me what you girls think of this...

a girl i work with was invited to a baby shower...and inside the invitation, it reads:

In addition to a gift off of the mommy-to-be's registry, please bring a pack of diapers and wipes.

i was like ohhh myy god, that is ridiculous that they would even ask that!

ummmm....... yeah that is kind of ridiculous. i understand whoever is throwing the party is trying to be helpful, but to say bring diapers and a gift... kinda much.

they might be doing this thing called a pamper pyramid where they build a pyramid of all the packages of diapers i think... thats the only thing i can think of

ummm do they know how expensive even 1 simple pack of diapers can be?!

no, thats rediculous - we didn't do that at my sis baby shower and I have been to plenty and never heard of it.......

I've heard of 'diaper parties'...but they're usually just that - a small get together for the sake of everyone giving the new mom and dad packs of diapers. Not something in combination with a shower.

I love the part about 'in addition to getting a gift off of the registry' or whatever.

I'd show up with Depends and Tucks wipes just to be a jerk!

Thats ridic, I mean if they wanted to they could've done a wishing well type thing and just throw the option out there for whoever wanted to contribute....people are both nervy and tacky these days!

Oooo I don't like that. I've heard of a book in place of a card, but diapers and wipes alone can be up to $20.

we did a diaper raffle for my sisters baby shower and we are doing one for mine on Saturday.
you bring a bag of diapers and you are entered into a raffle to win a prize but we put a cute poem not just bring diapers!
Maybe they worded it wrong. sometimes there are book wishing wells maybe this is a diaper wishing well?

It's probably like a wishing well type thing.

At a friend's shower, they had everyone bring a book instead of a wishing well gift. At my sister's bridal shower, we wrote there would be a wishing well.

Instead of writing 'bring a pack of diapers,' they should have said, 'in lieu of a wishing well, we are having a diaper well for the mommy to be! If you want to contribute, a package of diapers or wipes would be greatly appreciated.'

This way they're not 'forcing' gifts...

jeex, i get the baby book thing, you can get those for $5 or so, but diapers and wipes are $$$, that on top of a gift..... yep ballsy is the word to use!

That is definately a better way of puttign it
