I'm generally a over generous gift giver, so i need some advice on this situation. FSIL's baby shower is in a couple of weeks and today i went to babies r us to get some stuff off of her registry and spent $85, plus i am having a co-worker knitt her a baby blanket, plus i am baking the favors for (50 person) baby shower, and i also spent $30 on personalized gifts from fh.
Now a little background on FSIL, she makes lots of snotty comments about me and fh (how he spends the night at my house and how we are not getting married in a church). Also this past week when we went away her and her husband mades non-stop snide comments about me and fh, that i just ignored for the sake of fh's parents.
Do you think i should spend more on her?

From everything you are doing I think that is more then enough.

Re: NWR: Baby shower Question
I think you did more than enough... a gift, and the favors, and a personalized baby blanket? What else could you possibly give?!
Don't let her and her husband's snide comments get to you, you are fabulous, and IMO opinion you are doing PLENTY for someone who seems to have some issues of some sort.
If you feel like you want to 'kill her with kindness' then get one of those really nice ornate shower cards and right a great message about how wonderful she is, how great it is that she's having a baby, etc.

teri...stop right there!!! you've done moreeee than enough. i don't want her to take your kindness for weakness. she needs to get over herself and appreciate the wonderful FSIL she has. hopefully the things you're doing for her now will be an eye opener.

I think you did more than enough. I mean you are also going out of your way to bake the cookies. And your adding all those cute personal touches.

I think it is enough! But girl she needs to stop with the remarks. You need to put her in her place, you deserve just as much respect from her as you give her....otherwise make Fh say something. Do it now before the wedding. She has no right to comment on what you and FH do...I mean your adults geeeeees!

thats plenty! just think if you fed into her games and retaliated against her snotty remarks she could be getting NOTHING but instead you are going over and beyond

yeah, this is the one that invited us to come on the trip in the first place
the biggest thing that his sister did that pissed me off was, all the rooms had two twin sized beds in them, so fh put our beds together (his parents didn't know), she kept making comments in front of the parents about this
FH's parents are hard core catholics, they don't really like the fact that fh spends the night at my house, but they understand that we are adults, but i try not to do or say things in front of his parents to make them upset about what we do.

Re: NWR: Baby shower Question
I think you've done more than enough, especially if she is not nice to you. You shouldnt have to put up with comments from her or her husband even if they have different beliefs from you.

You really have done more than enough. SHe seems like the type of person that will always find something bad to say... so honestly.. dont even stress it.

Re: NWR: Baby shower Question
Without a doubt you've done more than enough!! I'm throwing my FSIL baby shower is next Saturday, and she flat out said 'you're not allowed to buy me a gift' because you've done enough (I am going to get a little something though). I think most people will find all that you did more than generous...and if she doesn't appreciate it, well, then that's her problem.
