NWR: BC related: Ummmmm I need some help... kind of important I guess...

Original post by Sandradv121

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Ok, I don't like to panic BUT I saw a commercial from one of those Lawyers with the catchy songs that my BC is causing mucho problems.. While I know that all BC can cause these probs (yes, all bc can cause 'side effects') the BC they listed specifically is the one I take...

I've been sort of complaining about numbness in my legs and toes lately but I summed it up to running and excerise, and low potassium levals... It never dawned on me that this is a serious prob...
Told my mom and she's like when was the last time you had a EkG or something and I'm like: 'I'm healthy, nothing is wrong with me GOD!!'

Well FH is sitting with me and sees this and than FH VOMITS and is like call the Gyno, go on something else, and call another doctor and get a test to see if you have blood clots; ohmigod Sandra your dying:

So to shut him up b/c I don't think I'm dying, I need some help:
1) What sort of tests are involved for Blood clots? I mean is it like a full physical or something? Or do I need to get poked with needles b/c thats not happening
2) Should I go to doctor? I mean yea the numbness is annoying but its not life altering you know?
3) Why now is all this stuff coming out bout the pill? I mean, yea I knew all along the side affects do occur but like is it truly terrible?
4) I'm coming off the pill the month after the wedding... should I just stop taking it now?

Can someone help my little anxiety??? neone?

I was having weird heart palpatations a few years ago and my doc thought maybe it was blood clots caused by BC. i went through a loooot of tests had to go off my BC for a while, MRIs, EKG, and apparently everything was stress related.

Talk to your internist and to your OB-GYN.

I wouldn't freak out or anything but I'd definitely follow up with something. Ask for a prescription to get a doppler which is the best way to detect blood clots in the body!

My mom was hospitalized for almost six months several years ago. She'd had a bad flu and a lot of bed rest and she had a large clot in her leg go unnoticed. In time, smaller clots broke off and settled in her lungs and some passed through her brain as well causing her to have several tsi misfires which are like small strokes. She had a stint surgically put in which acts as a blood clot filter but she'll always be on blood thinner meds now.

It's probably nothing serious but if it is you don't want to wait around.

thanks ladies. I think i will call my Aunt who is a nurse at a cardiologist and see what the doc says. Just to put FH and my moms minds at ease.

I would call a doctor just to consult with them.

I know with my BC it says if you feel numbness in your legs go to the ER.

I would go see my GYN & discuss this
