from what i understand, the blood clot risk is very low, but does increase if you're over 35 and if you smoke.... i would check with your doctor due to your past history... but you might not have any side effects. most women don't/.

My dr told me that you are at greater risk for clots /stroke etc when you are pregnant than actually on the pill... i think those side effects are very rare.. but I guess can occur.

have you checked out healthy ny or familycare plus? they're both low/no cost medical insurances.

I think you really need to see a gynecologist before you take the pill, and Planned Parenthood would be remiss if they prescribed it to you without an exam. I don't think they would, anyway.

Also, everyone's side effects are different, and each person's side effects tend to be different depending on which pill they're on! I'm on the Nuvaring and I love it, but I also was on a couple of different pills, and I didn't like them and had assorted side effects. You have to see a doctor, and try them out.

Good luck!

BTW, there also are good side effects--the Pill cleared up my acne, for one thing. Yay!
