I'm so bummed. Today they handed out Christmas bonuses. Now, I know not everyone in the world gets one, so I'm very very lucky to have gotten one at all ... Please don't hate me for being selfish.
But here's the deal. Last year, I was only there for two months and was shocked to get $500. This year, I worked hard on various projects, late nights, one night two weeks ago we were there until 6:30AM (a bunch of us stayed til it was complete, me being one of them).... Well, I got HALF of last year's bonus. To make sure it wasn't just me, I asked around to various friends at work and EVERYONE I asked, got more than last year!
Time to look for a new job. I feel so awful. And not that it matters, but they know I'm struggling on my low salary (no cost of living increase/raise and I've been there 14 months) and that I'm getting married this year.

I'm sorry! That would upset me too if I got less than last year and everyone else got more! You are not being selfish! It makes you not feel appreciated, especially since you said you worked so hard!

if it makes you feel better..I don't get Any BONUS!!!!! NOTHING! half the time the agency is too cheap to even give us raises!!!! Be grateful if you get something! but i can see where you would be annoyed

I agree, I would question it and approach it based on job performance and maybe ask if your boss feels there was more you could do.
That being said....financially struggling myself, I'm sure even that $250 helps. I wish I got some bonus...anything

Well, actually, one of the people I questioned said he actually told her 'it's not as good as last years' and said the company didn't do as well. So I guess some folks were given less, while others weren't.
I felt like asking him if I didn't perform well this year, but felt stupid. I hate confrontation.
But thanks for the suggestion!

i don't think you're being selfish...normally i would say that not everybody gets a bonus so to get anything is nice...but in your case i can see why you'd be upset bc its not just the money but the fact that you got less than last year so it makes you question how your boss feels about you and your performance at work, so its understandable

Wow! I would be so upset as well!!! Maybe you should say something to them about it... I know bonus' are just that, a bonus and not promised but its not right that you worked your asss off and you get less than everyone else....

definately say something though if it bothers you! it may make you feel better to hear their side of the story and maybe they'll and try to make it up to you
