NWR but ***???

So the other day I had to take money out from against my credit card and I needed $1700 so I had to go to the teller because I obviously cant take that much money out of an ATM. So I notice today on my statement that I was charged a $51 transaction fee!! Are you f*cknig serious?? Transaction fees are like $2 or $3 NOT 51!!! And why wasn't I made aware of this at the time I was taking the money out?? SO just to top things off, I call the 1-800 number just to find out that all of the systems wont be working for the next 4 hours and they cant access my account info to tell me whats gonig on. So now you want me to wait up till 3 in the morning just to find out why you f*ckers charged me an outragous fee?!? You've GOT to be kidding!!

*The reason why I needed the money was because my mom had to pay for teh rest of my dad's surprise party on Saturday and of course the place only accepted check or cash. I dont have some uncontrolable shooping disease or drug problem.

lol..i wonder if it was that high cause of the amount you took out

i have a card that if i do a cash advance on it its like 2-3 dollars per 100 dollars..

that could be it

I never got charged that much for taking out alot of money. Definitely wait until the morning and talk to them, there has to be a mistake, i would hope so but if its not then think about changing banks...Especially with all the wedding things you are gonna have to pay for and constantly taking out money that will be ridiculous

im sayin..its nutz..thats why id rather just charge instead of takin gout the money once i found that out..

we never do read the small print..lol

Im just going to threathen them to take my accounts elsewhere. Im sure once I say that they'll remove it since I have credit, savings, and checking accounts with them. It's just so frustrating!

I was gonig to do that until the stupid hotel where the party is at said only cash or certified check. And now that Im thinknig about it...if it's a hotel and people charge rooms allll the time, why can't they charge for the parties? Such BS.

If its a credit card you could be hit hard for doing a cash advance and be careful...they will probably charge you an enormous interest rate so pay that off fast! But if it is a debit/ATM card, you should probably not have been charged that much and should absolutely check that out tomorrow morning. HTH and good luck!

yes it is considered a 'cash advance', its not the same as taking out your own money from an ATM

yes unfortunately that sounds correct - for a cash advance the transaction fee is very high
AND the interest is also astronomical - much higher than just regular purchases.

I know my FBIL ended up paying back almost triple what he took out in a cash advance from his credit card
