NWR but had to share!!!!!!

My builder broke gound on my first home!!!!! It's being built from the ground up in Williamsburg VA.

I am having the 'Arlington' home built - house pictured at the top right of the link - 2 story red brick house.

We don't ever plan to live in the house though. It's just a favor to my friend who is a general contractor. He needed someone to buy a lot in the development and use him to build their house so he can become a preferred builder for the development. He's building the house at cost and then we are selling it right away.

Here are some pics I took while in VA on Wednesday.
This one is of the foundation they just started pouring.

Some trees were just cleared early this week. This gravel area is where the 2 car garage will be.

This is a pic of the signage the builders use.

The house is 3705 sq feet - 519 sq ft of that is the garage though.

FI and I are really excited although we will never live in the house. By the time we go to VA for Xmas the house should be in the framing stage (all the wood planks).

It's officially my first I'll be even more excited when FI and I build a house together - one that we will actually live in some day.

By Chrsitmas I'll have pics of the framing and maybe it will even be done by February or March. My builder won some award for building a house the fastest - in 58 days.

Katrina - that is AWESOME! When we first got our place (I had never owned a home before) I kept running barefoot in the carpet and sitting in every possible place. It is so wonderful -- and VA must know something NY does not 3700 sf -- is like a small NY street!

FI wants to spend the night there at least once after it's finished. LOL Not sure we will be able to if it's sold but I might put that in the contract.

I managed to find the final plan approved by the Environmental Committee at the development. The 3705 sq ft house is small in comparison to the 10,800 sq foot lot (but it is two stories). The location of the house is marked:
