NWR but I need your help...How to ask for a raise at work

Okay so here is the shortened version of the story.
My hours are 9-5 Monday thru Friday. There are many many times I get stuck leaving work at 6:30, some nights even 7. Im management so I dont get paid OT (Lord knows if I did then the house AND wedding would be paid off already).
The people I work with are lazy and whatever they dont get done I have to do because in the end it will come back to me (why wasnt this done blah blah blah) so to avoid that I do it. My supervisor gets out every freakin day at 4:30pm. I come to find out that all the things she is asked to do throughout the day she passes to me asking if I can help b/c shes just so busy. I dont know how to say no to anyone so I say yeah I'll help you. NOW....this backs me up with my stuff.
I havent had a raise since my promotion (2 yrs ago this August) and i bust my @ss more than everyone here. My boss has even asked me (more than once too this happened) to GIVE BACK MY SCHEDULED DAYS OFF b/c he needs help. As a matter of fact I have off Wednesday and Friday next week and he tells me that I have to come in. Nope sorry, you approved those days for me, Im not comming in.
So.......I feel that Im giving 150% in this stupid job and Im making crap money. People here talk and when I hear that regular agents are starting at 65,000 a YEAR and Im not, It kind of makes me think Im being taken advantage of.
Have any of you ever asked for a raise? How did you do it and what did you say? Did you ask your boss or the 'big guy' of your company?
(This isnt as short as I thought it would have been...Sorry ladies)

I would go to your immediate supervisor, and ask if you can speak with them in private when they get the chance. Then start explaining what you have been doing, and you were hoping that they would be able to assist you in asking for a raise of some sort. (This might be hard since the woman is giving you all the work...and you will probably have to talk to her). Then have in mind how much extra you are looking for, and go higher with what you ask for, so that they will bring you down to what you really want...always aim high.

I've asked before, and I got a raise, and I was in college...on break for summers and winters. What's the worst they could say? No? It's worth a shot.

good luck!!

I think you should just go in and ask, no matter how it comes out. You getting home at 9pm every night is ridiculous!! I know your FH hates it and I know you must be getting sick of it. What you do need to do is learn to say NO sometimes, it doesnt make you a bad person if you do....people will just have to arrange there work schedule to make sure they can get the work done in the day instead of handing it off. Take care of you first!! So that they are not home with there familys at 5pm and you are still in the office til 7 and not home with yours til 9pm!!

Good Luck Fox!!

I would start documenting things that you are doing that are above and beyond what's in your job description. Also, I would do some research on salary.com and other sites about what someone with your experience skills, etc. in your type of position should be making and see where you fall into that. The key is going in with a plan to make your case...and having the info to back it up. I would probably speak with your immediate supervisor initially.
