So, my wonderful honey has this friend. This friend has a girlfriend that I CANNOT STAND!!!
I wanted to share with you all some of her thoughts on weddings. She posted this on another message board that I belong to (non wedding related board). PS - she wants to be a wedding planner too!!!

'My only big wedding pet peeve is when it is all about the couple. I know, I know - we're celebrating your love and your day... but let's face it folks, except for you and maybe your parents - no one really cares that much. So stop with the favors with your names on (no one is going to actually use them!) and make it a party that EVERYONE can enjoy! Otherwise it becomes this giant egotistical circus with everyone jumping through hoops for a bride on her 'special' day.'

Funny you posted that, sounds like ALL of my friends.... but I know when their time comes they will be different. Its just sad though that people think that way.
eta... she said her peeve is when its 'all about the couple' ummmm hello... newsflash.. its THE COUPLE thats getting married. Man if I knew her I would sooo not even invite her to my wedding

Who is getting married here? The guests or the couple? She is crazy. And what's wrong with favors, If you care about the couple, the favor with their names on it will mean somthing to you. It sounds to me like she is the egotistical one.

I love this idea! That will put her in her place and make her feel like an idiot. I don't think she'd make a great living as a wedding coordinator. Can you think of one bride that wants to hear the day is not all about her and her husband? Hello?? Can you say 'you're fired?!'

I keep my wedding favors! They are very precious to me and I have some that go back a FEW years! When I see one and/or use one (back in my day it was usually a book of matches or napkin) I remember the wedding and the fun I had. I even met my DH at my cousin's wedding!
