NWR - can't take FH's snoring!

NWR - can't take FH's snoring!

Ugh, I had a horrible night's sleep last night because FH snores! When we first started dating he didn't snore and now he does. And it just gets worse as time goes on! Does anyone else's FH snore? How do you deal with it throughout the night? I've tried ear plugs but that hasn't really worked for me. We've been resorting to sleeping in different bedrooms recently Either he'll break down and move in to the other bedroom after the 100th time I wake him up or I'll go when I can't take it anymore. I haven't woken up in the same room as him for weeks! What a sad way to start a marriage!

Am I the only one who has to deal with snoring?? Thanks for reading!

Sorry you are going through this. I have to deal with some snoring but usually i just hit him and he moved and he stops.

But my dad snores really loudly. My mom makes him wear breath right strips on his nose to try to get him to snore less. It doesn't totally stop it but its way better.

I can relate, I just lean over and close his mouth, and it usually stops, and if it doesn't I'll shake him. It is annoying! I would totally try the breathe right strips, he used them once and they worked but said they were uncomfortable. HTH!!

Yeah, all the time. My mother says it might be sleep apnea, although I don't think that's what it is. He never stops breathing or anything... he just snores loudly. It makes sense that your uncle would snore when he drinks. Your muscles are more relaxed under the influence so the muscle in the back of your throat would 'collapse' sooner so-to-speak, obstructing the flow of air.

Oh i feel your pain!!! I'm a light sleeper to begin with and fh can fall asleep at the drop of a hat!! I've done the earplug thing which helps but they usually pop out in the middle of the night and if they stay in i can't hear my alarm clock in the morning. The strips work sometimes try them. Also there's snore throat spray which works for a little bit of time. Now i have to leave the fan on the ac all night it drowns out the snoring and i'm used to a little bit more sound while i sleep. But the lipa bill is expensive!!!!!!

My FH snores - what typically happens is that I will wake him up and his changing positions helps. I think it has gotten slightly worse since he put like 5 lbs. I know that being overweight makes people snore... But it has gotten better since he has lost some weight

dh doesnt snore but he is a crazy sleeper, talks all the time, moves non-stop and some things are histerical.

My dad used to snore alot and so loud. He had bought this spray that was specially for snoring. You spray it in your nose, if i remember correctly my mom said it helped.

Hey! There is a solution to this! My dad snores so bad, you can hear it throughout the entire house. A few years ago, he went to a sleep hospital for a study, and found out he has sleep apnea, which your FH probably has. This is a very dangerous condition if left untreated. It's possible nothing at all could happen, but it's generally accepted that the condition causes adverse health affects.

He was given a CPAP machine, which is a mask attached to a small machine next to him at night- smaller than a shoebox. The machine forces air into his mouth as he sleeps, and viola, NO SNORING AT ALL. It's like his life has changed. He said he has never felt so alert in his life, and he sleeps all through the night. My mom and him hadn't slept in the same room for years, and now, no problem. The machine sounds a little bit like a fan on ultra-low. It was a life-saver for them. Maybe it will help!!

I agree FFIL snored really loud all the time and was completely exhausted all day because he wasn't sleeping well. He took the sleep test also and turned out he had sleep apnea and he uses the machine at night also and he doesn't snore anymore. He also lost some weight which can help also.

my dad used to snore horribly. My mom bought one of those air cleaning machines and keeps it in the bedroom, his snoring got 1000 times better!

FH snores from time to time but I usually hit him and he'll roll over and stop.
Your FH might have a form of sleep apnea so it wouldn't hurt to try it out. I feel for you cause I'm a light sleeper. If I know FH is exhausted a run to fall asleep first or it will not be a good night for me.

I totally feel your pain. I try to go to bed much earlier than him so I can get some good sleep in. But sometimes I just go to the couch! ugghh.

Thanks girls - I see I'm not alone!

A few people suggested that FH get checked for sleep apnea. It's a good idea for him to go to the sleep clinic, but I find that his snoring is directly related to gaining weight. I don't think it's as serious as sleep apnea (and he doesn't stop breathing, nor does it keep him awake). I think he should go to sleep clinic as well, and he had promised to do so after tax season last year, but that never happened Hopefully losing some weight will do the trick. I hope we don't have to sleep in separate rooms forever!

My FH snores so loudly sometimes the dogs cant even sleep!!!!

He has a deviated septum and refuses to get it fixed-such a baby The breathe right strips and some stop snoring throat spray seem to work pretty well. I used to have to go to bed awhile before him but now we work opposite schedules. I hate it bc I never see him but at least I get sleep.
