NWR: car insurance

Original post by christine2010

Our current policy is going to expire & I am looking into a new insurance company.

What company do you have? How much do you pay? What year is your car?(I know that makes a big difference)
If you don't mind sharing, what are your limits & what is your deductible?

TIA

I switched from Allstate to Liberty Mutual.

I have a 2006 Mazda6 and with Allstate I was paying about 170 a month. I switched because I have been (knock on wood) a good driver for a very long time and all Allstate was doing was increasing premiums.

With Liberty Mutual, I pay 121 a month now.

I was paying almost 1900 a year for my 2009 Jetta with Geico.

Since I got married we combined our insurance (still Geico) and it's now 2100 for both cars. Makes no sense but I'll take it. We also got our renters insurance through them so it's supposed to drop more. BTW, that's how I covered my e-ring. I think that's 450 for the year but I estimated our apartment very high since I have a lot of antiques and old jewelry from my grandmother.

factors that cause decreases in car insurance rates:

1. location (more riskier neighborhoods means higher premiums)

2. your age and driving record (# of tickets w/in past 18 months)

3. whether you are single or married (married means lower rates because ins companies presume you are more 'stable' as a married person)

4. whether you took any defensive driver courses (reduces premiums) and other discounts you can apply (GEICO said my membership in AAA and Phi Alpha Delta qualified me for an organization discount).

5. type of car you are driving and year/make/model of vehicle
