NWR - Car Leases

NWR - Car Leases

after the morning i had i am thinking of leasing a car. i don't much about it.

the car i have now is 5 years old but has low mileage & great on gas. however, its very low & u feel every bump. this morning the remote wouldn't unlock my car. My spare is dead. i know its my fault cos i should have went to get a new spare.. but i never have time.

my question i guess is if get a lease will it affect us when we go apply for a mortgage? i know if you have a car loan it might which FH currently does. my car right now is paid off. Will my insurance go up with a lease?

i don't use my car for work since i commute to manhattan. i basically use it locally. my plan would be to let FH use my car now to go back & forth to work instead of using his new truck which already has been hit. i will get lease.

sorry if its long but i know nothing about leases. all i hear is not to be any money down. is that true. i just don't want anything to affect us getting a mortage & trying to keep our monthly bills as low as possible.

any advice would be appreciated.

thanks !!

well with me, I have a lease and FH co-signed for me. when we went for a mortgage it showed up as debt on both mine and robs credit report. they really dont want to see too much debt when going for a mortgage. lucky for us, rob has perfect credit so we are going to get it under his credit. I have too many student loans, and credit cards on mine. as long as you dont have too much on your credit report, it should be ok.

I sold my last car and decided to lease...It works better for me, some people prefer to own the car. I would shop around, you will haveto pay the taxes on the car, and how much you down may affect your payment. You can definitely haggle them, I got my lease payment down $100. No it will not affect your mortgage, only if you make late payments, and that goes with any type of loan/credit history. Good luck!

well right now i have a mortgage on a co-op not that bad its under $100K.

i just hate the way it rides. its soo low & uncomfortable. but we really want a house right now & don't want anything to interfere with getting one.

Leasing a car does not affect you with applying for a mortgage. I lease all of my cars. It works out better for me. Your insurance rate depends on what type of car you get. You can call your insurance company after you pick out the kind of car that you like and ask them for rates before you lease it. Your monthly payment also is determined by the amount of money that you put down. I don't recommend putting a lot of money down on a lease it's not worth it because you aren't making any money back in the end. HTH.

ok that makes sense. i just can't see putting a down payment on a new car when i don't use it much. i don't want to buy a used car because with my luck it will be a lemon.

i will probably hold off until after the wedding. i have too much going on right now.

right now i am stranded in my apt. we are BOTH without cars. his is still in the shop after getting into an accident a few weeks ago. He just returned the rent a car yesterday. he is hoping to get his back on monday.

i guess its good time to start assembling my invtes.

thanks !

You should look for a sign and drive if you are leasing. I justed leased my car through VW. You may want to check them out. I'm not sure if they are still running the deal or not?
