Re: NWR: CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

I think they have wrist bands in OfficeMax or Staples you can buy. If the pain persists, I'd go see a doctor. My dad had surgery for Carpal, he was in PAIN!

Re: NWR: CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

Do you do a lot of typing?

See if you can get one of those wrist pads and a wrist mouse pad. this may help aleve the pressure on your arm and hand.

Re: NWR: CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

All I do is type unless I am proofreading which I haven't done in days now.
I think this started because of the way my pc is set up at home. I sit on my bed with the keyboard on my lap and I feel the pain more at home than I do at work. But today its unbearable.

A co-worker has it and is doing a lot better and told me that I sit too high, I have to move my keyboard to the base that we have (I never use it) and keep my fingers flat not arched. It does feel a little better this way. But I still feel.
When I go the gym tomorrow, I will sit in the sauna for a bit. Hopefully it will relax my muscles.

Re: NWR: CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

I was told you need to stretch your muscles every 10-15 minutes which should alleviate (sp?) the pain. There are special wrist pads/mouse pads that have grips that come apart from them that you could use to do squeezing exercises.

Re: NWR: CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

I never had a problem until I got engaged!!!- Between working at a computer all day, and wedding planning at night, I was either typing and/or using the mouse constantly.

I bought those wrist guards at drugs stores, and use them when I plan to be on the computer for a while. They've helped me a lot so far.

Re: NWR: CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

How long has the pain been around ? Did it start as mild pain then progress with time?
In the beginning, it may just be Tendinitis from all the typing, but gone untreated it can definitely progress into carpal tunnel.
Do you use one of those wrist guards when you type? If not, definitely start, and pay a visit to your doc, and let he/she take a look.

Re: NWR: CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

Real funny Jenn.

Its my left hand. So I don't use the mouse with it. I will see what happens tomorrow at work. I am using that wrist guard by the keyboard now. If that doesn't work I guess I have to see the doc.

Re: NWR: CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

Im so sorry to hear that you suffer from this painful problem.

I would recommened definately getting the wrist bands! They help...

I have two sets, one I wear at night to bed and the other set at work when I am at my desk -- Mine comes and goes, I have my bad days and my good days. Today was so-so, for example I was carrying some heavy bags in from the car and my hand started to tingle as if it were falling asleep. I abo solutely HATE having this -- I worry that when I have kids I won't be able to hold them for long so that is why I wear my braces EVERY day/night! And do stretches for your wrists and get one of those rubber stress balls that you can squeeze.

I would also suggest seeing a doctor about it if you havent' already.

Other than the braces, my doctor told me the only other alternative is surgery
GOOD LUCK

Re: NWR: CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

My FMIL has it and she wears these special wrist guards. If you feel pain I would suggest you see a doctor before it gets worst. It is very painful.
