WE HATE HATE HATE CARPETING--- but we need to carpet our stairs...... has anyone had carpeting done recently??? i just wanmted some recco's

i didn't have it done recently, but my cousin did about a year ago and she actually called Empire (the one with the cheesy commercials) and she said their prices were reasonable and they worked well.

My uncle has used empire, so we called them.
I have a VERRY BAD experience with them. The carpet thing was new to me, and the saleswoman knew it. The prices were incredible high and she totally took advantage. I ended up going with someone local, Empress Carpet in Carle Place. He even had a remnant that I liked.
So it cost me $350, whereas Empire quoted me at $900. (But I did pick out a remnant with Empress, so that saved me $$)
