I went to St. John the Baptist in West Islip. I thought it was a good school. You should definitely check it out

She really wanted to check it out but we live in East Meadow in Nassau so I told it was too far. She would have to be up at 5am to get a bus.

I went to Kellenberg in Uniondale/East Meadow border...its right by you and a wonderful school. You should check it out.

Re: NWR Catholic HS

Thanks girls for all your input. We went to 3 opens houses this weekend and my heart is with Our Lady of Mercy. My daughter is very smart but is way TOOO distracted by the boys to the point her grades and attitude are slipping. As of right now she is on triple lockdown.. No phone, IPOD and worst of all no Facebook!!!
Mercy seems to be the best fit but she is like me when I was faced with the decision and I refused an all girl school. She loves St. Anthonys ( I think it's because the boy she likes likes it)
I like St. Anthonys also but just think she will be too busy flirting to focus on school. As for Kellenberg I always wanted her to go because it is a Great school and it is in our backyard basically but her grades and behavior are not good enough to get in.
Once again thank you girls and Thank you Mercy girls for your FM's. Go Dots!!!

I did too!!! When did you graduate?

Me also! Class of '04!

SJB would have been my suggestion. I also had friends that went to St. Anthony's & loved it. They were my second choice, followed by Holy Trinity

I went there too, for 2 years. I LOVED it.
I also checked out st. anthonys and did not like it AT ALL. They say some people love it and others hate it.
St. Josephs- loved it.. but its now closed

xavier- my father went there for his first year of HS, he adored it, but that was 40-45 years ago, he also went to holy trinity, and wanted me to go there. I REALLY wanted to go there, but I felt the commute was too long.
my other choice if it were closer would have been kellenburg.

my suggestion for your daughter- go to open house, LISTEN to everything, take notes on EVERYTHING, how big the lockers are, how weird the teachers are, how friendly your classmates are, how it smells, the outside, the hallways, everything (thats what got me on st. anthonys, I didn't like the teachers and the inside was really DIRTY when i went, but it was pouring outside and there were soo many people).

Also, send her to spend a day at the school. I did that with St. Johns, St. Josephs and half a day at St. Anthony's. That really helped me with my decision.
