NWR - Cell Phone Service

I have Verizon right now and my company just gave me a new Pocket PC which is Cingular. I can keep my cell and use the PC for e-mails, internet, etc... only or switch my phone service as well.

Only thing is I would have to carry around my phone and that if I don't switch.

Thoughts on Verizon vs. Cingular for cell usage?

I have Verizon - and I love it ... FSIL just got Cingular a little while ago, and she says its awesome (and we all had AT&T and HATED it)

soo, I think Cingular is basically equal to Verizon when it comes to service and dropped calls. I would get it - and have an all-in-one!

ETA: It s hard to tell what service will work best with you bc it all depends on how much you use and where you use, and with what phone you use it with,

I have cingular and I love it.. mych better than Nextel and t-mobile ( sinc ei had them both) and just as good as Verizon ( since I had that too).
Thats just my opinion.. i never loose sevice or miss call and I have Cingular now. HTH

I have Cingular, and Nextel. Now I don't know about the fewest dropped calls BUT......
I love them both, but to be honest all cell phone services are pretty much the same. One may love their service, were as the other will hate it. Everyone's experience is always going to differ.

i prefer verizon over cingular...my FH is switching to verizon with me in October on a family plan...I'm not sure what I'd do in your situation, although if they are paying for one service, I would switch.

I had Cingular and HATED it. The worst signal and customer service BUT I have heard things have changed since they bought Sprint. People seem to be much happier with them.

I now have Verizon which is great.

Wait a minute....Cingular bought Sprint where have I been. The last I remember Sprint bought Nextel. I'm confused here. So since I have Nextel,a nd Cingular does that mean I'm under one service now. W T F is going on here

I had Cingular before it was merged with AT&T so I can't say much to their service now. I left them to go to Nextel (BIG mistake) and now I have Verizon. I love them there are only a few dead zones but I got them in the same place with every service I had so I can't complain.
I also had a problem with Cingular and their so-called 'rollover minutes' they didn't always rollover and one month the bill got posted one day late and I lost all of the minutes that I had argued to keep!
I gave up on them and should have gone straight to Verizon but stopped along the way at Nextel. Verizon has always been straight up front with me and I love the customer service I get.

Wait a minute! Sprint bought Nextel and Cingular bought AT&T! All 4 companies I have had and they all stink big time!

I had the same problem, work gave me a Treo with Cingular service (it came with phone service though). For awhile I carried around both because most people I knew had Verizon and now I just carry around the work phone (it's big and both didn't fit well in my little bag).

I've been happy with the Cingular service so far, no complaints. I really love the roll-over they do each month with minutes (especially since it's a work phone) so I never go over. I have a habit of sending text messages though, whcih they charge for.

I have had ATT/Cingular and switched to T-mobile...I am going to switch to Verizon in a couple of months - I have heard Verizon is the best as far as losing calls...Tmobile is not so bad - there are certain spots I do not receive reception!

I have Verizon and for the area I live (Commack) the service is terrible! No one who has Verizon can get service at my house! My DH finally got someone at Verizon to admit that there is a problem with our area. I guess it's fine if you don't live in my area. Also, I have had Verizon for so many years that I can say that even in the areas that I have good service, it has changed for the worse. For example, I sometimes have a problem at my office, where there was never a problem before. I had Verizon before I moved here, and renewed the contract before I knew about this, so that's the problem.

Not sure what I would recommend. If you have no problems with Verizon, stay with them. But if you will be in my area, think about changing.
