NWR-Christening Gift

NWR-Christening Gift

FH and I are attending one of FH's very good friend's son's Christening party this Sunday at Russo's on the Bay. Now, his friend is in our bridal part y and FH was in his a few years ago...they are very close friends of ours...

I have a dilemma as to how much to put in the card. We want to give a generous gift, but I just want to make sure that we're not going a little overboard...the party is at Russo's and I know that the place is pretty pricy. Now I also understand that this is not a wedding but a Christening party...so how much do you think we should give? Please see my poll...

I think 150.00 is fine.

What about a savings bond for the baby? Then you could spend $100 but get a $200 bond.

Savings bonds are difficult to get bc you need either the parents or the baby's social security number...

You can also use your own SS number (I know, I know, a little weird but, I asked around last month when I went to do it and a lot of people do put their own SS number).

I work in a bank....You DO NOT need the parents or child's social securtiy number....You use yours and when they cash the bond in on the back of the bond, they will put the correct social security number.....I would buy an I Bond rather than the old EE bond....The interest rate is higher and you pay face value for it.....So you earn interest on the full amount not half.....HTH!!! FM me if you would like more info.....

I too vote for a savings bond, this way the child can have the money later for college and stuff.

I hate to sound cheap, but I think a $100 is a nice gift.

I agree. $100.00 is nice enough.

i agree that $100 is a nice gift

you have to remember that reception halls increase prices when they hear wedding. So while a wedding there might be pricey - it's not necessarily true that the price is as high for a christening party

that said - i dont know too much about Russo's or how extravagent the parents are making this event

HTH!

I say $150-$200 is more than enough

I would give 100.00 in a card plus 1 or 2 outfits so they get money and clothes...
