nwr - coffee

nwr - coffee

so I think my am coffee is upsetting my stomach!! Does anyone else have coffee related issues?

I get really bad stomach aches and I think I have narrowed it down to my am coffee... I didnt drink coffee at this over the weekend and I was fine - I thought it was stress, but it might be my beloved coffee..

is this possible?

it's totally possible. there is an irritant in coffee... for me it was causing heartburn and stomach issues and i cut it down a LOT (i used to drink like 6 cups a day) and it's really helped.

I know, it totally bites.

I have a horrible stomach to begin with and yes if I drink too much coffee, combined with stress...oh boy my belly hates me.

if i drink regular coffee, i'm OK, but if i have a latte from starbucks, my tummy rumbles all day long!! one of my MOHs, she drinks coffee just to help her go potty (sorry if TMI), so it really could be the coffee. i think when i have the latte, it's too much milk, and that's what upsets my tummy.

I had to stop drinking cofee because it was making my tummy feel sick. I miss it but I got used to not having it anymore.

ugh - the 'making you go' is totally true - at least for me. I almost rely on coffee to make me go ... if I dont drink my morning cup, by the end of the day I feel like a water buffalo. I retain SO much water and the coffee keeps me going

coffee is acidic.. so on an empty stomach you'll feel nasueaus.. eat something with carbs like a bagel or a muffin to kill the taste of the reflux.. and drink some water..

i also dont drink a ton, I drink 1 medium cup from DD in the am... and MAYBE 1 cup after dinner at home with FH

I had this same problem. I was drinking coffee in college, and it was giving me the worst stomach aches. I stopped drinking it, and no more problems....

Try drinking tea instead. You're stomach will hurt less...mine does anyway.

Apparently I wanted you to drink tea so bad I posted twice.

Yes it does! It is because it is a diuretic (sp)
