NWR - Company Party

NWR - Company Party

i am undecided if i should go to our company party tomorrow night. i usually go every year. my boss took a bunch of us out for dinner last week.
our company has not been doing well at all & i know lay offs are coming soon. I am just not in the mood this year. Why don't they cancel the party & save some jobs??!! plus i hate this party cos everybody is in little cliques. Nobody i know is going. My FH says i should go maybe i can something out. I doubt that would happen. nobody would dare leak any information out.

i have so much other stuff to do..

Any opinions??

Where is your party? If it is at a place with good food or something I would say go for a little bit and eat some free food and then head out early. If you are going to feel uncomfortable and you're not going to be happy then I say don't go, it's not worth it. I don't know if I would go to mine if i didn't have any of my friends going! I hate cliques too!

you should definitely go especially if you are worried about getting laid off. Nothing says team player like making sure you're at the company party.

I know what you mean, but I would still go. None of us at my job would miss a party unless it was a dire emergency - it's the one thing the company does for us.

unfortunately, this is a big party. its a combination of several groups. i don't think anybody would notice if i was there or not. i was soo pissed last year. somebody who i considered a 'friend' totally ignored me cos she has hanging out with higher ups. she acted like she didn't know me.

well, that makes sense. my company is small so if one of us doesn't go its a big deal. in the end, you should do what you are comfortable with. good luck
