Many places can put movie reels on DVD, but the audio is really hard. You weddign photographer may be able to do some too.
I wanted to give it to my Mom as a Thank You. She has some old audio that she would love to hear again.

I know that *** sells the equipment to do this. You can get a reel to reel and then hook that up to a CDRW. Obviously kind of a waste if its a one time thing but if your family has a lot of reel tape audio stuff, this may be a good option.
You might also want to check out your local library. They may have the equipment there for you to use and DIY.

Wow, I thought we were the only people left that had reel-to-reel audio. We also have the working reel to reel player. Fired it up a few weeks ago, still works! I'm pretty sure you couldn't find recently made audio equipment that will still work 40 years from now.
