NWR: Couch doesnt fit through door

My couch doesnt fit through the door of my new apartment. I really dont want to buy a new one. Does anyone know any place or person that will come to our house and take it apart and rebuild it? I got quotes of $350 for the job!!!!

I come from a family of movers and they can get ANYTHING through a door. Did the delivery people try to get it through, or someone inexperienced? Did they try taking the door off its hinges?

I think it's too risky to have someone take the couch apart and rebuild it, it can destroy the couch. I would either contact the store you bought it from and see if they can send someone experienced out to assist. If not, maybe hit up a local moving company and ask if one guy (you won't need more than one, regardless of what they tell you, unless you're dealing with a sectional) can try to fit it through. Tell them you're willing to pay someone and see if you can strike a deal.

ok this may be a really stupid question, but can you take the feet off the couch? I know you've probably already thought of that, but I had to ask because lord knows I've had incidents like this and not thought of something silly and then had a DUH moment!
