NWR: Depressed, anyone ever feel this way?

I'm going to be humiliated when nobody replies to this post, knowing I'm the only freak ....

Have you ever wished you could like, run away?

Start a new life some place else? New job, new friends, new places, new inexpensive condo/house far from the tristate area?

I keep having fantasies that I run off to Colorado and do all that - but FH can never leave his job.

i think we all wish we could just 'escape reality' and run far away....at least i do....many times...i think with the cold weather and the holidays and just the stress of everything makes us feel this way....hang in there and SMILE!!

you are very lucky to have your fh who loves you and cares for you!!

Oh YES. Lol, you are not the only freak. I guess I am *kinda* running away—I’m leaving NY for Stockholm, Sweden on the 27th, coming back two months before the wedding, and then moving there permanently after the wedding. It helps that FH is already there, I’m so excited about going.

Do not be embarassed!!! I feel that way sometimes.... i would love to just get in the car with FH and just drive and see where the car will take us!!!

It is ok to feel that way.... it will pass and you will realize that there is no better place in the world to be but where you are now with a FH that loves and cares about you!!!!

Wow...you would take him with you? JK No, lately EVERYONE has been working my nerves. Disclaimer: we have been together for a loooong time and he's starting student teaching so there is no $$ and with 3 kids and a wedding and an ex who is 2 months behind, I may just offer to drive you to Colorado myself.

Do not feel like a freak for thinking this way. You'd only be hurting yourself if you didn't acknowledge these feelings every once in a while.

I’m working at an English language pre-school…I’m really lucky that I get to work. It’s because I’m an EU citizen already (I have Irish citizenship) so I don’t have to worry about crazy visas or anything like that!

What a sweet reply. Let me know when you want to hit the road. Ha ha. Thelma and Louise style. Just kidding!

I have wished we could do that.....lots of times - i want to move badly - back to NY - but he would never leave his job....he works at an appliance store - but it's like the 3rd ranked in the STATE appliance store - so he makes VERY good money there...

U R not a freak! I think we all think about that----especially when u c how much a wedding costs in NY and u c how cheap it is to live pretty much anywhere else in the world.

My FH and I go to North Carolina to visit his family every Christmas. His sister's morgage for a gorgeous 5BR house is $800 (way less than our rent for a 1BR apt). Every year, I start picturing us moving down there. Then we get hungry and want to order a pizza and all they have is Domino's. I think I'm miss NY too much!

I actually DID run away lol well my mother knew where i was going...

i booked a 1 way ticket to south beach 2 yrs ago-quit my job and stayed there for about 9 mths LOVED it

yesterday FH and i went for brunch and i said LETS MOVE he said wait till he finishes Pharmacy i told him meet me there lol

I think in theory we all want to get away sometimes! Nothing like a good corona ad to make me want to get away!

But I think you really should consider talking it out with FH. While I know your post was totally hypothetical, going somewhere else - even if for a short time - only masks the deeper issues you might have.

So if you are kind of serious - and I imagine you might be considering your use of 'depressed' in the post - I'd seriously think about talking to someone.

Could it be the seasonal affective disorder (when you get depressed during the cold winter months)?

I called my insurance company and therapy is included in my plan. I'm going to meet with someone and talk to them.

I don't think this has anything to do with FH. I think I have depression/anxiety. I've had it my entire life. I went to therapy in college then a few years ago. It runs in my family.

Part of me wanting to leave is we always watch these HGTV shows where couples are buying awesome homes and condos for like $200K and we know we can never get a deal like that.

I wish I could run away... from law school, from having to make big decisions about my future, from all of my responsibilities...

but not from FH or my kitties

I actually can start a new job, new friends, etc and move back to NY... or I could stay here (and buy the inexpensive house far from the tristate area)... and i dont know what i want to do

I guess a lot us are confused and conflicted. Everyone else always seems to have such perfect lives. Ya know?

I constantly compare myself to all these happy girls with perfect lives.
