Most of you know I am an AP - I have been for 5 years (this is my 5th)
so today, my principal called me into her office and said that the superintendent wants to recommend me for the Aspiring Principal's Program!!
OK - I know it sounds great! I was FLOORED! Here is my dilemma I never thought about being a principal - not at this point in my life (before kids) It is SOOO time consuming and SOO much more responsibility than I already have
I feel like it is a GREAT opportunity for me and I dont want to tell the superintendent no for fear of NOT being considered in the future.
Any Advice?? FH said to GO FOR IT!! I love being in my building and the thought of NOT being there in September scares the HELLL out of me

Re: NWR - Dilemma!!!!
I think that is a wonderful opportunity, and maybe if you pass it up now, in fear of what you do in the future TTC and all, you may regret it.
I agree with your FH and say go for it!!! and Congrats!! How exciting

I would go for it! I know someone who was in a similar place and ended up getting invited to an aspiring principals program, and decided to do it and didn't regret it--sometimes you just have to seize the opportunities as they come! congrats!!

Re: NWR - Dilemma!!!!
Honestly it sounds like an amazing opportunity and you seem like a very strong willed hardworking person so I am sure that you will excel in this position. As far as having a family, I am sure you will be able to do both. The only thing I may hesitate with if it were me was if I wanted to have children right away which I know you would want to would it be fair to accept a position and then go out on maternity leave but then again Life Happens!!!! What a nice compliment to you!!!

Re: NWR - Dilemma!!!!
thanks girls
i know what you mean the 'problem' is that i already did a similar program so i have my license if i wanted to apply for a principal position
the difference is that this kind of forces you into a position and it can be anywhere in NYC

I think it is an AMAZING opportunity. There is no doubt about that.. but I know what you mean about it being time consuming. As a principal.. how possible is it for you to take maternity leave? I wish you so much luck with whatever you choose!

Re: NWR - Dilemma!!!!
I'm with FH and other brides... go for it. Regardless of your job you'd go on maternity leave so why not go as a principal
CONGRATS btw. thats so awesome

Re: NWR - Dilemma!!!!
I say go for it. Your principal and superintendent obviously think very high of you to recommend you for the program. If you are seriously unsure about it, why don't you talk to your principal about it. Maybe she/he can give you some advice.

Good. That is a great plan. It is a decision you definitely have to make for yourself.
I have someone that wants me to go for a position, but I know with my work, business & life right now . it may be more than my threshold for pain at this time. & I do not think I want to complicate my life further. Also My gut says this may not be the right time.
SO follow your gut & heart, weigh eveyrthing out & you will choose what is best for you.
Nothing is permanent either way so don't stress it girl.. You have a wedding to look forward to!!!
