nwr: Do facials ever cause you to break out?

I really think I may need a facial to get rid of some dead skin cells before my makeup trial but I am really afraid of breaking out from it.
I have heard stories where people who have never really had acne have gotten facials & they then began to have regular break outs.
Any feedback?

your skin looks best 2 weeks AFTER a facial. That's what my mom always said at least.

You might break out after you have one only b/c they dig up all the crap that is under your skin and they 'extract' clogged pores.

I personally don't get facials because I'm prone to breakouts and my dermatologist warns me against them, but many other people do.

If you are worried about the breakout factor (and facials can do that to a lot of people), you can always get microdermabrasion which is great--it gets rid of the dead skin cells and leaves your skin very smooth and glowing and can even help eliminate and fade dark spots and stuff.

I breakout easily too that's why I don't want to go for a facial... afraid what it'll do to my skin. Plus, I'm seeing a Derm right now and using a topical along with medicine... My FMIL got me a facial at a spa so I'm changing it to a swedish massage. Better be safe... oh, and of course relaxed.

Yeah--I once got a facial as part of FH's spa present and totally regretted it the next day--my skin was horrible for months and my derm. yelled at me for doing it.

I am actually going for one today at 5:15pm YAYY I will let you know how it goes..

I never broke out from one

Talk to your dermatologist. If you are prone to breakouts, then don't risk it.

But you can definitely exfoliate or even get Neutrogena home microdermabrasion kit and you can use that. It's great at taking away the dead skin cells and leaves your face smooth too.

I totally agree with your mom. You can break out because of how they extract your clogged pores, it brings it all up to the surface and once the breakout is done your skin is clear and beautiful.

Everyone's skin type is different. Some people that have sensitive skin may be more prone to a breakout after a facial. You also have to look at the types of product they use on you. Is it a seaweed facial, fruit extract, oatmeal- I think the type you get also depends on your skin reaction.

And Microdermabrasion is excellent for your skin. However, you don't want to have that done right before the wedding. I say 2-3 weeks prior and anytime before that so that you get the maximum beauty from it.

I'm in east suffolk! I have a good place but umm thats a little far! LOL..
