We have this stupid 6 day cycle thing at school. My schedule is determined by what day of the cycle it is (ie. certain groups of kids see me only on every Day 6 of the cycle). Last week, I HAD to take a day off on Thursday, which was a Day 6. This makes tomorrow another Day 6.
I am feeling like butt and a half today, and REALLY need to get better. Plus, my lower back has been really wonky lately (read: I was at the NYSSMA festival last night and a couple of times, I almost fell over in the middle of the hallway when my back showed signs of giving out).
SO. . .should I take another day tomorrow, knowing full well that the Day 6 kids haven't seen me in two weeks?

Re: NWR: do I take a day off tomorrow?
I wouldn't. That sounds a bit irresponsible to me. You need to care about your students, and that means teaching them! Just go to bed early...then you have the weekend to catch up.

Unfortunately, I think agree w/ her. Go in tomorrow, and maybe if you're feeling horrid, you can go home early?

Go to sleep early and see how you feel in the morning. While I agree with the above posters that it is irresponsible to miss the kids 2 weeks in a row, if you are sick, you shouldn't go in either. You don't want to risk getting others sick, or not getting better fast!

Honestly, If you feel terrible id say take off. You are useless to your students if you are feeling that miserable. What are you going to teach them? I know you have to 'care for your students' but you also ahve to care for yourself too. Perhaps you can reschedule your lessons next week somehow?

I took off 2 weeks ago due to being sick and took off today and STILL feel like crap. I spent the whole day under my covers shaking like a baby bc I was running a fever. What good would I have been to my students at work? Given them worksheets? If you really dont feel well, take the day off. A co-teacher once told me...you push yourself to the limit as a teacher and forget to understand that your school will still be standing tomorrow whether you are there or not. If you dont take care of yourself and get worse, you will be out even longer.
I hope you feel better because I am still dyyying right now. Im just going to keep drinking water, nyquil and somehow make it in tomorrow
