NWR do you think it is rude???? UPDATE

Original post by jcslady

that my fsil every year sends out an email with a christmas list for her kids??
I DIDN't ASK for it!!!
that bothers me because fmil sends fh the exact item, store, location in the store and price of the gift she wants

I AM SORRY BUT THE APPLE DOESN'T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE!!!!

THEY ARE ALL NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update:

So I had to tell fh how i feel about this whole thing of course he got defensive when i said it was tacky so now he is mad at me! TOO BAD
if she wants to send out an email like this KEEP ME OFF!! they are way too materialistic for me!!!
SO......................................... I open my email and this is what i get from him

Here are some X-mas ideas for me this year:

1) Moustache Grooming Kit (That I'll be growing back)

2) Book: ' How to silence a righteous Lady' By Author... Kan U. Shudit!

3) Muzzle (For a Size XXXS Head)

4) Porn

We have one in the (math) office at work. 28 math teachers and not one of us can use it. Apparently it is a very sophisticated ancient chinese calculator.

oh yeah i hate to say but they are kids not rocket scientists!!!

i worked in a montessori school for a little while and they were showing me how to use it.

i think it depends how close you are with people
my sister tells my mom and i what to get my nephews from their lists because quite honestly, if we're spending money, we might as well get what they want rather than random crap to fill the basement

I have mixed feelings on this.

Personally my sister tells us what my nieces would like and we buy off that list. But she gives it to me, my mom, sister and brother. She doesn't give it everyone. If people ask her she just tells them things they are into not specific items.

I think if someone asks for it it is ok. My mom asks what we want and then we get suprise too.

I beg my FSIL for ideas because I have no idea what her four boys would want -- they usually get gift cards.

NOW as for your FMIL that is pretty funny that she gives a list. My FMIL mentioned months ago this one thing that she would really love. So we aregetting it for her but we also that if we didn't she would just go out and buy it herself. It is her way of being helpful.

My point -- it is appropriate in certain situations.

You are supposed to give a gift bc you want to and that guft should not be determined for you.. I agree that its tacky.. If you or FH asked for it different story

I think it is efficient for fsil to do that, however, it is kind of presumptuous to send it to someone who didn't ask for it.

Does FH maybe ask his mother for that info? Some people hate to shop and would gladly buy exactly what someone else wanted. My ex in-laws used exchange gift cards with each other.

To each his own..[/QUOTE

Ugh! Fh's family only does gift cards. I hate that and think it's so impersonal. I told fsil this and she told me i could buy her thongs and bras from Victoria Secret instead...we're not that close! I bought her a gift card instead...she wins and I hate to lose!!!
