So, do any of you girls actually live ON Long Island?
FI and I are currently Upstate right now. I hope to move back to NYC in the coming years but doubt we can afford something decent in the boroughs. And FI is use to more suburbia life as well...
Anyway, where do you live on Long Island? Do you like it? What neighborhoods would you gals recommend that's in a good school district? Near LIRR or bus to the city?
Thanks!

Yes i do live on long island, for the past 20 years lol. FH lives in Brooklyn but we are going to live on the island as it makes more sense $$ wise for us.......school district and a nice size property are really important to us.
I grew up in Old Bethpage and totally recommend it - the school district is great (always top 10 rated or something) but the taxes are pretty high.....

I live in Oceanside, born and raised. I live one block from the LIRR, it is 45 mins to manhattan. The schools here are great and its a nice neighborhood. I hope we end up staying here, its a great place to live. The only thing that is bad is that the taxes are super high.

I live in Astoria, Queens and FH lives in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. We are probably going to rent an apt. after the wedding in Brooklyn and hope to either buy there or in Queens when we can afford to buy a home.

I've lived all over lLI (Nassau) and currently rest my head in Massapequa. It's a nice, quiet neighborhood with a good school district.

I was born and raised in Elmont - I went to Sewanhaka which used to be a great school but I'm not so sure anymore.
I'm moving to Rockville Centre next week which I'm soo excited about! I love the town! They have a good school district from what I hear, and there are a bunch of nice restaurants and bars around.

We live in Wading River, with Shoreham-Wading River as the school district. I grew up in this town and love it here. Taxes can be alittle high, and its not super close to any train stations. But we love it! Plan on raising a family if not here, then real close by. My neighborhood is starting to turn over and lots of young new couples are moving in

I was born and raised in Queens, near Rockaways. I moved to LI for my son's high school years. We live in the Ronkonkoma area and the school district is Connetquot. The schools are good here. Taxes are okay where we are but in some closer areas they are over $5,000 a year. The only thing I don't like is the lack of public transportation. I'm a city girl, so having to drive everywhere is a pia. But otherwise I like it.

I grew up in lynbrook. Taxes are insane but its right near queens and has a lirr station. Some of the best schools in the country next to rvc, jericho and great neck.
I moved to sound beach which is ok. Taxes are affordable and the sds out here have majorly come up. I think theyre Above the 88% percentile. No train though. Exit 63 on the lie. North to the end. Its far.
