Are Diuretics safe to use? I've never used one before and just feel bloated so I purchased a pack I found with all of the menstrual products...I just get nervous using something before I know anything about it. TIA

Re: NWR: Does anyone know anything about diuretics?
Drink tea or add some lemon to your water... both are natural diuretics.

i dont know much i just know they make you pee more and if you abuse them they mess with your potassium levels WHICH could lead to heart problems
(obviously this has more to do with ABUSE than USE)

I'd say be a little careful. You have to drink lots of water with them to make them work.

I didn't know lemon was a natural diuretic...that's what I drink everyday! Maybe taking one will give my bod a little boost to expel any excess water! Thanks guys

Go Tilde! You're in the know!
Diuretics make you pee and dehydrate you... you lose potassium and sodium...which your heart needs to function properly.
Old people tend to be on diuretics...but they are also on potassium supplements....eating a banana wont cut it.
I DONT recommend taking them. Limit your salt intake! and exercise =)

I've taken them before. They work but you may become lightheaded. As ironic as it sounds, drink lots of water, and you will shed even more water. Also, don't try to have a glass of wine after taking them. You'll fall on your face.
I wouldn't encourage taking them regularly. It can damage your kidneys (I think... I'm no doctor)
Asparagus is also a diuretic.

Be careful w/ diuretic pills. If you want a good clarifying technique that will not hurt you try using Epsom Salts. Put about two cups of them in a hot bath and soak for twenty minutes. This will remove toxins and help shift some of the fluids you may be retaining. You can buy them at the drug store! HTH
