Anyone ever hear of Occidental Punta Cana? It has mixed reviews some pretty bad and then some amazing ones, my friend is pretty set on it but me and fh are unsure, my friend is much less picky than I am but I would love a vaca that is affordable being that we're saving so much...
Any thoughts?

i got engaged in punta cana!!! its sooo nice there and reasonably priced! we stayed at excellence punta cana and loooooooved it!! its adults only which is awesome and its 4 star.. the food was great too. I have heard of The Occidental but its not sooo great.. i would choose either the Paradisus or Excellence. if its a couple thing definately Excellence! we really had the best time and the service is awesome as well!!:)

Thanks so much for the input, I think my friends are pretty set on the one resort otherwise I'd def switch it to yours :(. I may just have to rough it lol, just wanted to see if I should be too worried.....

I stayed at Occidental Punta Cana for 10 days in January 2007. It was really affordable, the staff was really nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. My only complaint is the food. The 'buffet' resturant they had wasnt all that amazing. You def. have to make reservations for the resturants for dinner- they are SO much better than the buffet. Occidental Punta Cana was the only resort I've ever been to so I have nothing else to compare it to. But, I did think it was nice. I thought there would be more to do there- the casino was small and we didnt even bother going into the nightclub because it was very small and no one was there. Overall though, I had alot of fun.

You're welcome!! Make sure you bring sunscreen, bug spray, and snacks cuz they cost like $20 EACH there. its insane.

I'm kind of scared of the bug situation, should I be really concerned? Also, was it all inclusive for you for the most part, aside from little things that maybe they get you on?

tripadvisor.com is really good website to check out the different hotel.s
my coworker went to occidental and she loved it. we are planning a work trip to Dreams Punta Cana. It looks awesome!

check majestic colonial too. i stayed there two yrs ago it was great.

Punta Cana is sooo beautiful... you will have a great time no matter where u stay.. I have to say I didnt have any issues with the bugs but I didnt go in the summer.. I was in November.. When I went to my clients wedding in aruba last year i got bit about 30 times.. it was craaaaazy!! lol. ur gonna have a blast.. no worries!:)

I stayed at the Iberostar resort in Puenta Cana and LOVED it...The resort was very clean, the spa had great servces and the excursions were ALOT of fun (do the swamp tour...you come back covered in muck but it is SO much fun!!) The buffet's for breakfast were good (the fruit is sooo sweet down there) lunch buffet was ok depending on which one you went to, dinner buffet not so great try the restuarant's instead.
